Description

Better Things is a comedy series starring Pamela Adlon as “Sam Fox,” a single, working actor with no filter trying to raise her three daughters – “Max” (Mikey Madison), “Frankie” (Hannah Alligood) and “Duke” (Olivia Edward) – in Los Angeles. She is mom, dad, referee and the cops. Sam also watches out for her mother, “Phil” (Celia Imrie), an English expatriate, who lives across the street. Sam’s just trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two and also — just maybe — squeeze in some private time once in a while.

A personal, honest, and touching portrayal of motherhood and interpersonal relationships. It's as much a critique on social situations and humanity itself as it is a character story. Adlon is absolutely beautiful in this series. See it.

Loved the first episode, bought the season pass, and binged! Overall very good and entertaining throughout, certainly wasn’t bored or even close. Love the daughters, and their names, they’re all quite unique character portrayals, and casting choices.

This is what tv can be. Adlon reaches in and grabs the everyday by the balls with her accrued wisdom in illustrating the nuanced textures that makes a hero, errrm, shero. To hell with formula and set-ups, this is genius and I don't use that word. Better things is not just better than yo things, it's transcendent.

This is one of the worst shows I've ever seen.

I love Adlon. I loved her in Californication, in Louis C.k., Say Anything. She's good. And this show is both hilarious in a very subtle way, but also heartfelt and real. I am looking forward to watching more. I just hope it can reach enough people to be something more than a season or two.
