I truly enjoyed the movie and found the characters pure and honest showing the best in people, in a flattering way and, optimizing the true gift of love.

I understand rotten tomatoes is the penultimate judge of film, and they're right in many respects about this film. But, how can you dislike a Michael Caine film, its sacrilegious!! Plus Clemence Poesy is always a delight on screen!
  • A wonderful film about love and loss

This is a wonderful film about how life changes when you are elderly and lose the love of your life to a long-term illness. Michael Caine is superb as the widower! The settings in Paris and Brittany are breathtaking. This is a must-see film. Plus the film's ending with a Norah Jones song is like icing on the cake. Bon Appetit!
  • A Refreshing film with much heart and compassion

At the start, I though it was a bit plodding and morose, but I was glad that didn't click eject. It's a joy, as is Clemence Posey, who generates much quiet joy and compassion as a beutiful, caring human being. I'm planning to buy this one!

Alot of the reviews talk about how lifeless this movie was, but I liked it alot. Very worth the price to rent it.

I enjoyed about 20 minutes of this movie. Visually it is wonderful. Poesy is amazing, Caine is always good, but his “american” accent is ridiculous… the story is odd, I think the script tries to be too many things… and in the end, is just not believable. What was the Director really trying to say? I’m still not sure...

Really enjoyed this. Good philosophical messages tucked underneath some very good acting. A few rough spots about 2/3 of the way through the movie. Maybe I missed something, but Gillian Anderson’s character really didn’t add much.
  • Not perfection but close.

Despite a less than original plot, the film was visually pleasuring and acted superbly by the two leads. Sir Michael Caine is superb and Clemence Poesey was flawless. Not perfection but close.
