Description

Moonrise Kingdom is the new movie directed by two-time Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rushmore). Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore – and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in every which way. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff, Captain Sharp. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader, Scout Master Ward. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Bob Balaban; and introduces Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as Sam and Suzy, the boy and girl.

Fun story line. Loved the characters. Don’t think the 2 12 year old characters having physical contact was necessary to support the quality of the film.

Wes Anderson is one of the finest directors of our time I think his films are Phonemenal and beautifuly well directed. Moonrise Kindgom is a well directed and beautiful film so as the acting and settings and locations are fantastic. It's a romantic but a tour de force production value that remainds us life isn't what you think with running away or being in a relationship. But anyway this movie is excellent and inspiring.

Brilliant and original. A comedy for the non-Hollywood world.

I loved this film. It’s use of colors, and it’s beautiful representation of the mood of a scene is balanced refreshingly throughout the film. The cinematography was once again symmetrical - a perfect fit for the characters. The protagonist(s) are flavorful and lovable. They are all 2 dimensional, even the antagonist(s). But I have come to believe that this film switches the antagonist every time a new challenge is discovered. An adventurous spark of delight I would recommend to anyone who likes drama and classy comedy.

Where do I start with Moonrise Kingdom, first the cinematography and use color is amazing and you can see Wes Anderson expanding on his style even more than in Fantastic Mr. Fox and the rest oh his other films. The acting of course was great the performance from Bill Murray and Bruce Willis and the rest of the cast was phenomenal. Wes Anderson incorporates some of of his bests dry humor yet. He includes some of his speaking signatures, like the way the characters speak with practically no emotion. Most films want to make you forget your watching a movie and make it seem like the camera isn’t there. But Anderson does the opposite he embraces the fact the camera is there with whip pans and zooms. The way the characters speak help enforce this. Overall I enjoyed this film and believe it is one of Wes Anderson’s best films.

The Stand by Me or Gooneis of a new era, this film will stand the test of time as a modern classic. Moonrise Kingdom is beautiful in its simplicity and pure emotion, a dream of a movie.
