Description

Sick of living in a home shrouded with secrets, lies and a smothering sense of competition, Gus (Zach Gilford, Friday Night Lights) runs away from home and the shadow of his famous fly-fishing father (William Hurt). Determined to live life like he wants it, Gus makes his new home in a secluded cabin on the banks of a river where he plans to fish all day. Instead, he is propelled into a quest for self-discovery. An assortment of eccentric characters, including a free-spirited girl (Amber Heard, Zombieland) who shares his fondness for fishing, helps him find his way toward adulthood. Based on a book that has become a cult classic and set in the breathtaking wilds of Oregon, THE RIVER WHY will cast a spell on your heart.

Hands down the best movie I've ever seen. I love the storyline, I love the fishing, I love the meaning of the meaning of each and every metaphor, I love the scenery, and I love how Gus and Eddy "click" and instantly fall in love!

This is really a good movie. Good story, good fly fishing, good scenery. I actually like this movie better than A River Runs Through It.

I absolutely loved this movie!! It is by far my new favorite! The love of my life is a fly fisherman and we live in Oregon. This movie seemed super realistic- I would recommend to any fisherman I know!!!

Love this story. The metaphor is pretty straight forward. Young man breaking away from his parents in search of his identity. A beautiful girl seeking an adventure. It's more then just fly fishing, it's a journey toward some reel and magical. Fishing is only the beginning, what awaits at the end is...life!

I thought that the film had beautiful images as it was shot on location in Portland and the surrounding areas. But i didn't really connect to the stories or the characters as much as I wanted to. It could have been because I don't really like fishing or fly fishing and don't know much about that culture. But I didn't really connect with the film.

Great fly fishing movie! We need more films like this, for those who understand, there is much more to fly fishing, very metaphorical.i
