  • Points for star charisma, and nothing else

There’s a lot of charisma on display here but the movie is ridiculous. It was already dated looking before the final reel unspooled of the opening weekend. Miller and Jolie have obvious chemistry but beyond that it’s a fantasy movie version of what hackers were capable of at the time, or even now, blended awkwardly with an obsessive and pitifully unsuccessful attempt at being Uber cool. It’s dorky and dumb.

  • Prophetic

The hair and clothing/cultural styles seem to be the "norm" of today (2017)...this movie is very prophetic. Good cast, crew, script, story, and filming.
  • One of my top 5 all time favorites!

I know that the "hacking" depicted in this film is exaggerated but no one wants to think it's all done with command prompts. They were liberal with their interpretation for the sake of presentation. That being said, I watched this movie for the first time when I was 14 years old and it introduced me to a whole new world of music, style and got me interested in computers at a young age, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it. It's nostalgic to me. I'm sure anyone watching it today for the first time will feel that it's dated, but for those that watched it growing up, the film is a cult classic and I still watch it at least once a year. PS The only thing I don't like about the movie is Fisher Stevens character "The Plague". I couldn't ever really look beyond his role in "Short Circuit" to take him as a legitimate antagonist in the film.
  • Dont take it seriously, it's fun

There is nothing factual about this movie with respect to tech. But once you make peace with that, it's a fun movie to watch. Just make sure your BLT drive doesn't go AWOL.

Man, it looks like MGM has been updating their films as of late, just like Bloodsport. Another film that didn’t get the Blu-Ray treatment. Now, they have the HD transfer(Not remaster)and with 5.1 audio. No stretching or strange upscaling. The film never looked this good. Colors straight pops. Worth the purchase.
