Love this movie, scarier than Paranormal Activity or whatever. Has a chilling effect, and very much lives up to the standards of the book. Even more awesome considering that this was in 1979.

i watched this movie with my friends and the only thing that scared me was some one was trying to be funny by tapping on the window. It was barely like the book because the book was somehow more scary.

The original really wasn't that good, I'm sorry to say. The special effects are far outdated, and weren't nearly as scary as the book made it out to be. Still, the actors tried their best, which makes me give it 3 out of 5 stars.
  • An Older Paranormal Activity

Good movie, there were surprises around every corner...just when you think you've figured it out, a new factor comes into play that changes everything...another classic, definitly gotta watch the original...good acting too, its almost like an older version of Paranormal activity....BUY!!!

i do love the classics! with the original amityville you have the elder brolin in some fine acting moments (namely in his tighty whiteys saying "who loves you?"), great and iconic horror moments ("get ouuuuuuuut!"), and just generally wonderful 70's creepiness! terrific classic horror!

I watched this movie on amc and loved it, so a week later I bought it off itunes. Definently worth the 10 bucks. The new one was good but no where near as good as the original.
