Cheesy, low budget, unrealistic progression of events. HOWEVER, this is the most powerful, cheesy, low budget, etc. Christian film I've seen. IMO, it outranks all the Left Behind fantasies, C.Cameron and other highly celebrated movies. Why? The Spirit uses it to put His finger on and massage denial of an unrighteousness heart. There is a bit of conflict at the end, when the viewer is being drawn to repentance and choking down the abundance of miracles. Nonetheless, I still remember the power of personal conviction over some things I needed to correct. I give it 5 stars, not because of the quality of the production but because of the willingness of our Great Saviour to work through it. Buy it. Watch it. Share it with someone who is struggling with moral issues and watch the Spirit of our great Restorer work.

This is a great christian movie! So I don't understand why it is unrated (which is specified in itunes as worse than R movies)... so some people can't buy it. It should be not rated (which just means not reviewed). Anyway don't pay atention to the big UNRATED sign! :)

This is probably one of the worst movies I have seen. The message was clear, tell the truth and don't lie. The acting was AWFUL! It sounded to me that all the actors were doing were just reading their lines, and that is not a movie that I want to see. Overall, it was really bad.

This story applies to all of life. I lost my older sister in a car crash, I wasn't in it but ever since then my life has been upside down, backwards, and sideways. In other words she was my flywheel. Without her my motor can't run.

  • Technical flaws come second to the film's message

Having seen and loved Alex Kendrick's second and third Christian films (Facing the Giants and Fireproof), I was excited to finally purchase this. While I enjoyed watching it and was as inspired by the message as the other two, it's very obvious that this was Sherwood Films' first attempt at a movie. The actual filming and cinematography remind me of what a group of high schoolers might create for an in-class assignment, and the acting is equally rudimentary - although part of that might be a result of the weak script. The main character's wife, in particular, is a shameless doormat who tiptoes around her domineering husband and accepts his conversion without question. Furthermore, the product description for this film is inaccurate, as Jay Austin's change of heart occurs without him being subjected to humiliation or the public exposure of his dishonesty. The film may have been even better if Jay's family and community held him accountable for his actions from the beginning, providing the groundwork for why his future actions were so important. At one point in the movie, Jay tells his wife, "You would not believe how easy this has been," and for the audience, that could also reflect the simplicity of the journey that Jay takes over the 2-hour time span. He enters into a relationship with Jesus without suffering any real consequences for what he has done, and the final credits left me wondering how much more "beef" the script could have used for a more well-rounded and substantial story. That being said, the ultimate message trumps all of that in this case, and the movie is especially relevant for anyone who believes in the Christian faith. Most others would probably bash it for feeling heavy-handed and expressing an extremely low moviemaking budget, but I agree that Stephen and Alex Kendrick have something meaningful to say with these stories. I own all their movies and am anxiously awaiting the 2011 film, "Courageous". If you are considering buying this one, just know that the technical elements leave plenty to be desired, but that shouldn't matter as much in the equation if you absorb the message of honesty, integrity, and faith in every aspect of life. If you ask me, that's something that our entire society could learn from, especially now.

I wouldn't discourage anyone to watch this, but not everyone will like it. It was sherwood's first motion picture and it's pretty good for the first one. :) I like it.
