Description

Four years unjustly jailed haven't dampened the spirits or determination of Nikki Finn. The spunky parolee sets out to clear her name - and sets the Big Apple spinning in deliriously funny ways. "Madonna is sexy and funny - a very engaging comedian," Vincent Canby of The New York Times wrote of her work in Who's That Girl. The music/movie superstar displays kicky comic flair and sings four terrific soundtrack tunes (Causing a Commotion, The Look of Love, Can't Stop and the title song). Griffin Dunne co-stars as an uptight, soon-to-wed attorney whose mild lifestyle swerves into the path of uproarious oncoming traffic courtesy of Nikki. This frisky caper proves screwball comedy is alive and swell.

  • Meaningless, annoying, waste of film

A guy is manipulated by a self-absorbed sociopath. The movie tries to work. It overtly tries in places to be cute. Its protagonist is a waste of a human being who is thoroughly unlikeable. The movie is based on a very tired formula that has been trotted out dozens of times over the past seventy years. There is nothing new here but a new take on bushy eyebrows. This is nothing more than a waste of 90 minutes.
  • Stunt casting gone wrong

Madonna is a TERRIBLE actress and this is a terrible film. The fact that people let her star in non-singing roles is one of the greatest jokes in Hollywood history. She is particularly ABYSMAL in this paper-thin film. She is incapable of delivering a single line with any conviction. Thank goodness she finally gave up on acting. It's basically a classic anti-white story of how a Jewish-type nerd gets the blonde shiksa and how rotten/stupid/corrupt/shallow all the other white people are. Standard Hollwwood brainwashing of the type that paved the way for the obsession with "white privilege/supremacism/whiteness" that is inescapable today. A "screwball comedy" that gives a nice insight into the psyche of Hollywood and how Harvey Weinstein ended up where he is now. Worst of all, it's not even funny. A few good one liners here and there do not make up for the cringworthy script.
  • Five Stars? Sure, Why Not

My blind adoration for its star compels me to award this film five stars. Heck, I'd give it more stars if I could. Pressed to give a specific exemplary quality it possesses, I offer this: Who's That Girl had an awesome movie poster.

  • It has its moments... but the Music is Good

There are moments in this movie I enjoy, where I really laugh... There are others where I'm like "Come ON".. But it is your Typical Romantic Comedy (with a Dash of Action) from the 80's that falls in line with other (and sometimes better) movies like Bachelor Party and Mannequin. I think this movie is better than Manneuin, but lacks some of the comic styling in Bachelor Party... however it is just as rediculous as them both. But frankly this is not a "GREAT" movie... Madonna plays a character that is NOT Suited to her Persona... She tried hard bless her heart, but this was not suited for her. She needs to stick to easier roles for her to play well such as Breathless Mahoney and Evita. But her lack of skills don't ruin the movie... the Movie ruins itself with obnoxious coincidence and played out stylings. One good side is that there are plenty of good songs to enjoy throughout the movie... so check out the soundtrack!
