  • A very pleasant surprise

I have to agree with most reviews on here. We obviously know about the murders; so, I won’t waste time discussing plot (although some things were different; which is what kept it from being 5 stars). If I had to compare this movie to any other it would be with The Strangers. The stalking sequences are very effective at building suspense and leaves you wondering how close they’ll get before it’s too late. Really gives you a chance to build a connection with these real people, effectively with great acting moments, who may not be known by younger audiences. The kills are pretty respectful (all things considered) in that they aren’t indulgent like most horror films. They are effective with how they’re set up though, making an interesting watch.

This is basically 'the strangers' set in 1969… It actually had good directing - creepiness and I love the beautiful Katie Cassidy, so to see her in another horror movie is pure entertainment for me… This is a quick and short horror movie which I'm not sure why they did that due to today's standards - horror movies should be at least 90 minutes. There is not much blood and gore as it is all off screen but again I really enjoyed the creepiness and I love the camera dolly with it slow moves especially the scene when the black car enters the home and the camera moves up the long driveway… And the way the killers waved to the victims was creepy. Just go into this movie with an open mind and just enjoy it for what it is...
  • Not the real story

The movie quality was very good and the acting was great...but I don't understand why the story is not accurate to the real murders? Ok, if they wanted to change the story out of respect for the victims I understand.... but then you show real footage of the killers. Why? Plus Jay Sebring died protecting Sharon Tate. He stood up the the killers and that was not shown in the movie..very sad. The documentary is way better.

Clearly the rotten tomato reviewers were uncomfortable with the subject matter of the film - pregnant Sharon Tate was brutally murdered along with a string of others by the notorious Manson clan . Yes it is hard to watch at times and uncomfortable and sad - however that does not make this a bad film . I think because the movie has the ability to make us enraged and physically ill , the film has succeeded to a certain degree . There are many people who still don't know of these events or how they took place . This movie is great for those curious about the Evil Charles Manson and his clan of brainwashed morons , that he convinced to do his maniacal bidding . He would get his in the end though . Sent to prison for multiple life terms - he would be beaten senseless by fellow inmates and his teeth would eventually rot out of his warped head .
