Description

During the chaotic final days of the Vietnam War, North Vietnamese forces closed in on Saigon as South Vietnamese resistance quickly crumbled. With the specter of a Communist victory looming and only a skeleton crew of diplomats and military operatives still in the country, the United States prepared to withdraw. As they began to realize the likely imprisonment and possible death of their South Vietnamese allies, American diplomats and soldiers confronted a moral quandary: obey White House orders to evacuate only U.S. citizens, or risk being charged with treason and save the lives of as many South Vietnamese citizens as they can. With time running out and the city under fire, an unlikely group of heroes emerged as Americans and South Vietnamese took matters into their own hands.

Insightful. Passionate.Timely. Sad. Heroic. A truly epic and inspirinig documentary that is well worth seeing. Remarkably, the heroes of this story are needed today.

I was born in 1961 and always believed I would be drafted. But I was too young and ignorant to the goodness of United States military soldiers and government officials. This war has always been painted with such old paint. The actual convictions of pure need for these Americans is incredible. I have always honored all veterans; but this film will help everyone know that whatever the outcome; the last Americans during this period spent it on saving as many people as possible no matter what they had to do. Respect Respect. Stay cool

The rent and purchase options are grayed-out on this and some of the other documentaries. What's the deal?

This film should be shown in every high school and be required viewing of every student graduating. Stuart Herrington, Army Captain, said it best “But sometimes there is an issue not of legal and illegal but of right or wrong”. You cannot miss the 10-minute mark into the film when footage is shown of people trying to get aboard an aircraft taking off the ground. If that doesn’t move you then I don’t know what would.

This film captures the story of real people who risked it all to do the right thing.
