Description

Outkast's Andre Benjamin stars as Jimi Hendrix in this revealing biopic from writer-director John Ridley. Covering a transformative year in Hendrix's life from 1966-67, in which he went from a New York City backing musician to making his mark in London's music scene up until his Monterey Pop triumph, the film presents an intimate portrait of the sensitive young musician on the verge of becoming a rock legend.

This movie was an opportunity spoiled. I know it’s common among biopic films of bands or artist typically start from the beginning of ones life to the end but this whole movie sort of turds on the concept. I have also recognized that films about rockstars from 60s and 70s are always butchered and this film falls into the sad category. I’m leaving one star mainly for Andrés role... he actually played a good role and clearly seemed to fit him most from traits like dialogue and near facial features of Jimi himself. This movie left a bunch of major hits out as well, to some Hendrix fans it may be acceptable in a small way but the classics are just not in it. I wouldn’t purchase the film if you are or aren’t a Hendrix fan. This film is about love and that’s truly it while following Hendrix mid years before coming back to America to tour. This film was poor and I’m sure if a collective amount of true fans could make a biopic of the voodoo child, they would make it a hundred times better... just sad...

Although the start was a little boring the movie is really good don’t understand the hate it’s getting. Only thing I didn’t like was there wasn’t hardly any Hendrix music

Great actors. Story very slow, not engaging. Little to no music at all. Had an opportunity to be an amazing movie with the talent, and history of the legend Jimi Hendrix. Didn’t do him any justice at all.

Still trying to make a soap opera out of an iconic genius' story. With non-truths - sorry to even watch this trailer, LONG live Jimi - just not the Hollywood version :( …. No stars.
  • Wish I could give it only a 1/2 star

Can I PLEASE have that 2 hours of my life back? Thanks!! Boring from start to finish. At times it felt like they were trying to give you the same feel that The Doors had but couldn't pull it off. And if you are going to make a biopic about a musician, having their music actually in the film is a HUGE must. Total waste of time and SO glad I didn't buy this trash!!

This movie is extremely hard to watch, it's as almost they wanted the viewer to feel as if they were on acid. Aside from that the movie is terrible and there no actual Hendrix music used in the film. Do not rent/buy. You have been warned.
