Description

Watch it now before it's in Theaters. A powerful thriller inspired by actual events: at a coal mine in a blue-collar town it’s the last day of work for veteran miner George Marsh (Jeff Fahey). His daughter Samantha (Kelly Noonan), a feisty environmental lawyer whose politics are bitterly opposed by her father, celebrates the occasion by accompanying him underground. She’s escorted by old flame Randy Bennings (Joey Kern); no sooner do they descend to the coal face, however, than a drilling machine malfunctions and punches through a supporting wall. A cave-in kills several workers and several others go missing. The crew foreman, Mundy (Brent Briscoe), is grievously injured. The shocked survivors retreat to a claustrophobic rescue chamber. While they wait for surface workers to reach them they hear terrifying, almost-human sounds from the bowels of the mine. After arguing among themselves, they leave the chamber to discover the noises’ source. Their frenzied efforts find nothing—except evidence of a similar disaster more than 90 years ago. Meanwhile: Samantha begins experiencing horrific visions. Several of the men panic, are separated from the group, and murdered-- gruesomely—by unseen assailants. As the air runs out and the death count rises, those who remain fight to separate their worst fears from reality.

I don't usually write negative reviews. But to be honest, this felt more like a college indie movie. Not something I could recommend to anyone, especially horror movie fans. The actors were good, but the plot collapsed as much as the cave did. It was a screwed up story with a very predictable plot. I could forgive a lot of movies with predictable plots because they're still entertaining, but this is a movie had to bare watching to the end the whole entire time because i spent money just to watch it. The production in terms of cinematography were ok but seriously wasted by a bad plot. It got so slow in the first few minutes that I spent more time doing other things to make my time productive. I think the director, everyone actually who were involved with this film had potential, but seriously wasted by the plot. I would give this a 12 out of 100 if I had to, and that 10 percent is out of mercy. Seriously, I'm sorry. If you're looking for a film to fall asleep to I wouldn't even recommend this uncomfortably stressful movie. It's like watching a golf tournament with no good scores. Too bad I can't rate it half a star on this five star rating. Seriously! Half a star. 12 percent of 100 is a bad result. Even sharknado was better than this. Terrible!

So many 5 star reviews - but HOW? Good idea just poorly executed.

Spooky, suspenseful, ghostly fun. Enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. If you're scared of the dark or can't handle enclosed spaces then you might want to skip it. Otherwise, I recommend you grab your snacks and get ready for some good scares. This movie jumps at you!

Being that confined spaces freak me out more than anything, I was deeply anxious to face my fears with "Beneath". The promise of being stuck in a collapsed mine with Jeff Fahey, however, was quickly extinguished 30 minutes in. I have NO idea what the menace down there was supposed to be. Was it a zombie virus? Or being trapped with really sweaty, loud, annoying, attractive people in coal miner hats? Either way, it seemed like the filmmakers had some money and they spent it all greasing the festival circuit, because evidently this thing actually won a bunch of awards. Good for them. But my booty’s a little tender from the $9.99 rental fee.

This movie is incredibly suspenseful. From the time they are in the mine until the very end, you’re on the edge of your seat. Definitely worth a watch. Better to watch at night.

I really wanted to like this movie and I was optimistic about it at the start; however the longer the movie goes on the less sense the plot makes and at the end your left wondering which one of the two possible explanations for the events that took place has more holes in it. I feel like a lot of the these 5 star reviews must be plants, don’t rent this it will just leave you feeling disappointed.

The setting - an underground mine - is one of the best features of the film. What isn't scary about being trapped in a deep, dark confined space with things going wrong at every turn. The writing and acting is fantastic and made it very easy to become invested in the characters, their relationships and their outcomes. I found myself on more than one occasion sitting on the edge of my seat gripping my husbands arm in suspense. A must watch horror film!
