  • R.I.P To A Hollywood Legend In The ScyFy/ Horror Genre

I saw parts of this movie, many, MANY moons ago, yeah? And from what I can remember, it was enjoyable. But that's not why I came to post this 'review'. I came here just to pay my respects to a Fallen Legend in the world of ScyFy and/ or Horror. Mr. Kevin Peter Hall, who plays the title character of Harry The Big Foot. He also played the Legendary character of The Predator in parts 1 (w Arnold Schwarzenegger) and part 2 (w Danny Glover). He was one of the original characters in makeup who are revered and ICONS in cinema history. Just as Kane Hodder is for playing Jason in the Friday The 13th franchise and Robert Englund as the menacing nightmare demon Freddy Kruger in the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. Mr. Hall was a gentle giant who stood 7ft 2" tall, and was just married in 1988 to sitcom series actress Alaina Reed before his untimely death, after being given a blood transfusion in 1990, after a serious car accident, that was tainted with HIV. his health quickly deteriorated soon after from there and he passed away from HIV/ AIDS at the young age of 35 on April 10, 1991, when his career was beginning to take off. He also played other characters with and without the makeup, but his most memorable characters were when he donned the amazing SPFX makeup from great artists but, in particular, another legend and icon in cinema history, Mr. Stan Winston. Who, himself, left us in 2008. Never forget the greats. Rest in peace Mr. Hall. I hope you, Stan and your beloved wife, who passed away from cancer in 2009, are all having a proper laugh on the other side. Cheers mate!

The most iconic and truly memorable movie of the entire Bigfoot genre…. A movie so good that decades after its release not only is it part of the lexicon and fabric of American culture…. But it has not aged a bit. It’s time for this gem to be rediscovered by a new generation.

I really like this movie and I remember watching it when I was younger. Turns out, you might want to reconsider before sitting down with your own kids to watch this movie. There is quite a bit of profanity that I did not recall being a problem when I watched it many years before. Just something to consider before bundling up on the couch with your kiddos for a family movie (age dependent). Adults and children use profanity in this movie, we had to stop watching about 10 mins into it.

I saw this again for the first time in a very long time and was pleasantly surprised. Very entertaining, funny, and heart warming. I would not recommend this for very young children, as there is quite a bit of foul language used in humorous situations. Some of the scenes with Harry, etc may be intense or scary, but overall he is a gentle and lovable beast. Rick Baker was and always will be one of the best creature effects/makeup artists in the movie business and is such a refreshing relief in a world full of films dominated by CGI.

I still remember walking into West Coast Video store and seeing this cardboard cutout. This movie was so funny I rented it twice and now thanks to iTunes I can buy it and watch it all over again and laugh
