I don't really understand all the bad reviews. I really enjoyed this ScFi take of estranged sun in his fathers shaddow becomes unto him self (without a parent dying, like most hero stories go) The technology displayed in this SciFi Flick was amazing and I really wan to dive deeper into this world including what has come of earth. We get a whole story but it still feels like a single sotry out of many in this huge universe desplyed before us. This has the making of a star trek universe. This movie has the comeplete Hero's journey story told time and time again: The call to adventure The road of trials The vision quest The meeting with the goddess The boon The magic flight The return threshold The master of two worlds
  • It Hasn’t Gotten Better For Shyamalan

Ever so slightly a small improvement from The Last Airbender, After Earth is yet another huge disappointment from M. Night Shyamalan, featuring dull moments of every aspect—a dull script, a dull concept, dull direction and even duller performances (maybe because Will Smith spends literally 90% of the picture sitting in a chair). The Fall of M. Night is becoming an even more depressing tragedy. 2.5/10

So, in the movie, Humanity escaped Earth for a reason: the world ended? Years LATER, a man and his son returned to Earth, which was in ruins?! That makes sense!
  • M. Night Shyamlan's worst film yet

After Earth was a film that i couldn't even enjoy or take seriously because with all the terrible performences from the lead actors were to laughable for me to pay attention to the production value but never in a million years M.Night really wanted to make a laugh track film like has with his other films. Even the studio Columba Pictures tried to hide the fact that M. Night Shyamalan directed this film because with that we follow our two main characters Katai (Jaden Smith) and Cyber Rage (Will Smith) after escaping the horrifc events on earth that forced the people of earth to leave earth and transport into a new planet called the nova prime but suddenley the aliens The Ursa who can smell your fear and are techinnely blind and envoled to kill humans. Will Smtih's character Cyber Rage wants to retire himself from his job as general so he takes his son Katai on a one way adventure when astroids threat to crashland there ship on the quarantined planet earth as Katai and Cyber are on the surface of the earth Cyber Rage is surrivley injured with two of his legs which sets Katai on a adventure to get some help from a beacon as he faces nocturnal animals that ars transformed to kill humans. After Earth is a complete waste of time which follows really bad production value and cheap visuals that looked fake as anything. Will Smtih's peformences was emotionally terrible as he can't show any emotion throughout the entire movie so your telling me that the most charasmastic actors in Hollywood can't act in this film but his son Jaden can it was werid and strange that this seemingly charamastic actor turned down his happy side. But Jaden Smith's peformence was undeinedablly bad as he can show emotion was impressive but instead it came out untentionallly funny either way After Earth is fraustating enough for it to be a father-son sci-fi tale that improves on cheap visulas and broken storytelling that leaves the audience with laughter and shame for me After Earth is worse than other M. Night's films but it's still wasn't perfect or visualy stunning to get me interested in the story or the special character development but it's a underwelming mess.

I don't know who these people are writing such negative reviews. This was a great movie for all audiences. The characters are played by actors who know their craft and the execution was seemless. Really, the only reason you would dislike this movie is if you do not care for the complexion of the cast and producers which really is a shame. This movie deserves more. Watch it and you will see for yourself.

People act like it was bad but I liked it. The cgi budget was small but they pulled it off somehow, and those people say it was riddled with cgi, but every movie now has a ton of cgi.
