  • Beautiful scenery, but no story

Another Woody Allen movie with competent actors, beautiful venues and no real story. The only saving grace is Roberto Benigni’s part. He doesn’t have a real story to work with either, but at least he always makes you smile whatever part he plays.
  • Woody doesn’t care anymore

He’s not even trying to write a good script anymore. The cinematography makes the movie, as it did with Midnight in Paris. Two movies that effectually have no script at all. Just a lot of drivel set to beautiful shots of beautiful cities.

Firstly, Woody Allen should never act, he can direct some good stuff, but my fridge has more character than him. Avoid this film.

Woody Allen. Self-absorbed. Cute story line. Meh.

Typical Woody Alan movie. No beginning, no end. Hard to understand. Some fun parts

    Very funny movie.
  • Nowhere near his best work

Parts of this movie are fun and funny, but for the most part it feels forced. A real shame given the acting talent available and the Woody wit that we know and love (usually). Vicky Christina Barcelona and Midnight In Paris were both excellent but this is rather predictable droll frivolity for the most part with a few exceptions (eg the opera scenes).
  • Classic Woody Allen treat!

I enjoyed this "Woody Allen" comedy very much! It has the typical story line that most of his films have which are all entertaining and fun!
  • Great second-tier Allen

Think of it as a New Yorker story in movie form. As long as you don't judge it against his masterpieces (Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah And Her Sisters) or the best of his smaller films (Radio Days, Bullets Over Broadway, Midnight In Paris), it is a fun, well-written film about the tricky turning points in relationships. Allen has made one film per year for four decades, and that fact that he can write and direct a film like this faster than most of us can finish a poem is astonishing. You will miss him when he's gone.
