The Way We Were is what movies are all about: timeless and unforgettable, just like Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford were. Time will go on, and we'll still have this film to remind us how beautiful they both were.

Classic and timeless. Hubble and Katie are so in love with each other that it makes my heart ache that they can't make it work.

This was the most depressing movie ever. I am so glad I rented this movie and did not buy it. (spoiler alert* From the start of the movie, you could tell that Katie came off needy to Hubble and it was painful to watch that he only sort of became fond of her towards the middle. However, there was never any real love towards her on his end and she loved him too much, so much so where it seemed like for most of the movie she was blind to his flaws. Also, what was confusing was that there was a terrible segway between scenes. When did Hubble and Katie get married? Why was Hubble's friend JJ in Hollywood with them? It made no sense and there was no segway as to when or why these things happened. Also, to be said for Hubble, he was awful to Katie and to further that fact, he never even saw his daughter in the end. What an insensitive jerk that he never got in contact with her to even talk about their daugther. I hated Hubble, which I think is really what ruined the movie for me. Also, to be said for Katie, had she been less needy towards Hubble, I would have found her character a lot more likeable. Anyway, that being said, this movie does not live up to the hype and that is why I gave it one star.

Robert Redford was beautiful in his heyday; Barbra Streisand is sweet and incredibly lovely as the passionate Katy Morosky. Watch this, again and again. A realistic, classic love story in the best cinematic tradition.

This movie was truly exceptional!! Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand were both incredible!! The moral of the movie is beautiful and it reminds us to stay true to ourselves and to never give up, even though what we yearn for, may come easy to others. Truly exceptional and shows how versatile Redford can be as an actor. GREAT MOVIE !! IT IS A MUST WATCH!!
