The Magic of Belle Isle

This movie was very heart-warming. Since they were filming in my hometown, I saw production of the film, and I met some of the cast. Great movie, great cast, 4 stars.

This movie is absolutely worth watching. I rented the movie first, but I think I want this movie in my library always.

As usual, the scathing, cynical critics can't see past their own blue noses. I thought this film was well-written, touching, and had a number of laugh out loud moments. It'squiet, pleasantly slow (not plodding), and romantic. Admittedly, if anyone but the peerless Mr. Freeman had been cast in the role of Monte, this film probably wouldn't have had the same charm. He and Virginia Madsen alone carried it very nicely. It definitely has a fair dose of Hallmark-esque sentimentality to it, and maybe it's predicitible - but who cares? Not every movie can be full of shocking twists, and only critics like those horrible unhappy Oscar movies. Many of us prefer happily-ever-after and the predictibilty that comes with it. If you like a good script, some lovely (Classical!) music, a feel-good message, and the idea of not only watching but also growing with the characters - then this movie will suit you just fine. :)

This is a must see movie Morgan Freeman gives a wonderful performance I enjoyed every minute of this movie in fact I wished it would've lasted longer . anyone would enjoy watching this funny and amazing movies. one of the best movies I've seen

"Red" you've done it again! You have the gift of making the audience connect with the characters you portray, get swept into the storyline, and wish for more. A feel good movie about the good in people. The cast was outstanding, the setting was magical, and it will make you feel good about finding your dreams again.

This movie will tug at your heart strings, make you laugh and make you cry. The scenery is magical, Morgan Freeman is spectacular, his voice mystical. Virginia Madsen and her three children will captivate your heart. For me... This was one of a kind, I wish they would make more movies like this:). Outstanding!!

Rob Reiner did another great job with this movie. It tells a wonderful story with great actors. Hollywood will never like this movie because it is too good. This is what filmaking is all about. The story.
