Description

Adapted from the acclaimed bestseller by Jonathan Safran Foer, "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" is a story that unfolds from inside the young mind of Oskar Schell, an inventive eleven year-old New Yorker whose discovery of a key in his deceased father's belongings sets him off on an urgent search across the city for the lock it will open. A year after his father died in the World Trade Center on what Oskar calls "The Worst Day," he is determined to keep his vital connection to the man who playfully cajoled him into confronting his wildest fears. Now, as Oskar crosses the five New York boroughs in quest of the missing lock - encountering an eclectic assortment of people who are each survivors in their own way - he begins to uncover unseen links to the father he misses, to the mother who seems so far away from him and to the whole noisy, dangerous, discombobulating world around him.

Movie is a full gambit of emotions and a surprising twist of fate to gently remind US of the worst day, 9/11, and how incredibly connected we are.

This movie is so deep and the boy so beautifully portrays his emotions after losing his dad. I cried so hard at so many points during this movie - the acting is perfect, especially with such tough material. This movie will definitely grasp you at your very core through its depiction of a child with his own struggles who is trying his best to come to terms with his fathers death. It is emotionally very intense, so be prepared, but it will be worth it; as the kid seems to find some sense of closure in the end of the film.

Creepy 9/11 imagery. Boring. Was there a plot?
  • Good movie, but so different

I enjoyed the movie, I'm not going to lie; but I wish I had either not read the book and watched the movie, or read the book and not watched the movie. The movie is completely different than the book, they take out many important details and characters why is mr.black not in the movie? And why was the grandmother barley even a character in the movie when she was Oskar's best friend in the book? It just doesn't make sense to me at all! Why even name the movie the same thing as the book when almost nothing is the same, it should have been titled something different and just based off the of the book. That being said, I did enjoy the movie I thought it was good! It had me tearing up at some parts.

This film is about a child who has Autism and is affected by 9/11 when he lost his dad in the World Trade Center. I personally have characteristics of Asperger's Syndrome and was for 4 years obsessed about 9/11. I was deeply moved by this film and the boy's behavior after 9/11. He goes through grieving and has tantrums and stuff. It was very emotional for me.

just so well done, to all who say the boy was too wierd. it is because it is told from the point of view of an autistic child who learns to overcome his hardships. it is inspirational and i personally would reccomend this to anyone who wants something inspiring.
