Description

Get high and mighty with Danny McBride, James Franco and Natalie Portman in Your Highness, the epic and hilarious action-comedy from the director of Pineapple Express. Two royal princes—slacker Thadeous (McBride) and the noble Fabious (Franco)—join with an elusive warrior (Portman) on a quest to free a princess from an evil wizard. Along the way, they’ll have to vanquish horrific creatures and traitorous knights in this raunchy trip critics cheer as “gloriously absurd, hilarious & balls out irreverent” (The Playlist/Indiewire).

Going into this, I was expecting Your Highness to be bad. I expected it to be of Year One proportions, but to my surprise i wasn't angered nor offended by the film, but rather I was bored out of my skull. Your Highness is probably the most boring comedy since Dinner For Schmucks, and even that film supplied more laughs than this. It tries so desperately hard to be taken seriously. The fact of the matter is, we do not care for or have any sympathy towards any of the characters, just bring on the funny. The jokes that this movie has are just as stupid as the trailers make them out to be, but they certainly didn't warn us about how few and far between they were scattered throughout the film. It takes literally a half an hour before a real joke makes it way on screen, its stupidity alone feels like a breath of fresh air. Now, i did find Danny McBride's performance to be quite charming in its own twisted little way. Its also very pleasant to see eye candy from Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel. But these pros outweigh none of the cons. Your Highness is a laugh free snore fest, complete with terrible writing and cheesy SyFy network special FX. Now if a stoner comedy is what this film wanted to be, let me suggest a better alternative to what this movie could have been… Harold and Kumar Go Medieval.

People get confused when they see a stupid slacker character and think that a movie is "dumb" or "silly" as a result. It's actually a very funny movie, that manages to avoid a lot of common tropes while still having a good story and characterization. If you're a D&D nerd, and an adult, this movie was made for you.

it had a couple of funny parts, and bunch of stupid, vulgar, and just plain wrong parts. they could have done waaaaaaay better than that. 
  • Appalling trash that doesn't rate the actors performing in it.

Who decided that graphic/vulgar language was the only element needed for a movie? I feel really insulted that someone thought this movie was a good idea. James Franco, "you should have read the script before agreeing to do this piece of trash."

This movie was horrible! The actors in the movie are good actors why oh why would that have agreed to film this movie. Did they really read this script and say to themselves this is worthy of my skills? I hope not because they left their skills at the door! Just where I should have left this movie. I couldn't finish it was so horrible. PLEASE don't waste your money on this crap!

I loved Pineapple Express. And I loved Danny McBride's character in Tropic Thunder. So I bought this movie rather than rent it. And wasted $14.99. The movie was a complete disappointment. Hardly anything funny about it. The few funny bits were in the trailer. And they were actually funnier in the trailer as the jokes were watered down in the context of the movie. The entire time I was hoping that it would soon get funnier. I wanted to like the movie. I wanted it to be funny. But it just wasn't.
