The Nun's Story

I was not disappointed. I at first was like this is boring but it turned out to be suspenseful. The acting is amazing for this drama.

I was looking forward to watching this after reading all the reviews, but found the whole thing depressing. It makes me question the values of the church with regard to how they treat people.

When My teenager can sit through this film with me on the acting and writing ALONE you know it is good.

I love this movie both from when I was a child and now a woman in my 50's. Audrey Hepburn is magnificent and beautiful. The drama, the suspense and the life of Sister Luke is entertaining and amusing. I remember as a young girl almost wishing to be just like her. I wish there were more movies just as beautiful as this. Young people should have an idea of what a life of service to God, celibacy, penitence, and devotion to God and His people would offer. Thank you for making such a wonderful film and I give it five stars.

Rarely has such a movie touched me so much and so deeply upon first watching as this one has. Of course Audrey Hepburn is fantastic and perfect for the role. The ending is what made the movie so powerful. SPOILER ALERT It was an atypical ending where she didn't go back to the Congo and start a relationship with the handsome doctor, but walked through a door into the world of a war-torn Europe, a world Ms. Hepburn knew well. There wasn't even the slightest hint of sexual tension between the nun and the doctor and in that lack of sexual tension was the power of the movie, her struggles were spiritual alone.

The acting and drama is excellent. The movie takes you completely into a world from a time past.

Audrey Hepburn's performance truly elevated her into the ranks of one our greatest film actresses. I first saw this film when it originally opened in theaters and find the film still packs the same emotional wallop upon repeated viewings. I love the ending - it allows the viewer to supply his/ her own . I have always thought that Gabrielle aka Sister Luke would go on to join the resistance, as a nurse, and end up being executed by the Nazis in the course of her work... Either in a Belgian prison or a concentration camp. Thus achieving true martyrdom doing God's work under the most terrifying of circumstances. I refuse to believe that she reunited with her former fiancé and opened a bed and breakfast after the war!

Audrey Hepburn's performance was amazing, to pull off looking fabulous in a nun outfit confirms that you have style. This movie kept my interest with its twists and turns. I found myself angry, smiling, and educated in looking into the life of a nun. Wished for a better ending but that's what good movies do, they keep you guessing what could have been.

one of my favorite movies ever! Watched it as a child, watch it over and over again. I don't think nuns have to live like that anymore, but I went to a nun's school and they did when I grew up, that was in the 60's.
