Description

It was the cruelest of times. Under Herod's torturous reign, families struggled to survive and yet, in the midst of utter turmoil, a young woman's faith is put to the test. Join Mary (Keisha Castle-Hughes) and Joseph (Oscar Isaac) on an incredible journey of hope and discovery. Epic in its scope, yet intimate in it's portrayal of this historical family, this "wonderful film" (Bill Zwecker, Chicago Sun Times) is "a family feature that will be cherished for years to come!" (Greg Russell, WMYD-TV, Detroit).

  • To the person who said Mary was not born without sin and that there was too much speculation...

I only have one comment for you – Mary was not born without sin so anything you have to say after that becomes very difficult t reconcile since you have made an incorrect statement that is NOT backed up by the Bible. Mary was not a perpetual Virgin nor was she born without sin and I wait for anybody to give me a verse saying otherwise. This is actually one of the better nativity story is considering that most of them are low budget and very difficult to makeUsing these low budget, and always gets slammed by rotten tomatoes and the critics because they are Christian movies. I think people by now know not to believe most of what the critics right about any of the Christian movies. I thought it was pretty good and definitely worth watching.
  • Rotten tomatoes shouldn’t have rights to review

Since there’s so much bias to this film by the reviewers, there should be a standard deviation statistic against the critics that vote contrary to the average viewer’s rating. Do rotten tomatoes critics really think people pay attention to them anymore? Obviously the movie is NOT FOR them.
  • Too much speculation

I was disappointed, first of all with Mary’s relationship with her parents. There is nothing in Scripture that says her family home was filled with people who were dependent on her father and that he gave her to Joseph to ease the pressure in his own home. Mary’s persona portrayed her as negative and a little bored. There is also nothing in Scripture that says she and Joseph were shunned in Nazareth. I don’t think Joseph delivered Baby Jesus and because Mary was not under the curse of Eve, and herself was conceived without sin, she may not have experienced childbirth in the way the rest of us do. The scene of Mary almost drowning in the river was overkill. I understood the meaning, but it didn’t fit in. Overall, I was disappointed in this movie and have see others about the Birth of Christ that were much more riveting.

This has been the best movie my family and I have watched about the Nativity. It hit important parts, espcially when Mary meets her cousin Elizabeth. That was most touching. Other things are exceptional but this will become a family favorite. This is as memorable as The Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson.
  • Easily my favorite Christmas Movie

I loved the movie for how it portrayed the struggles that Mary and Joseph would have gone through. Although they took some liberties, I was ok with all of them, because they did not detract from important details, but instead made you think about them. A very spiritually uplifting film.

I really don't understand why people feel the need to pull this movie apart. Sure it may not be exactly what happened, but that's no reason to nit pick. Over all it was a great movie and I enjoyed it.😃
