This film is extremely UNDER-rated, and deserves more respect than it has received from critics who jumped on a politically self-righteous bandwagon. The film is steadfastly anti-death penalty, and uses a distraught David Gale to weave a perfectly executed scenario that achieve a last-gasp bit of vindication in the only he feels he could.

I absolutely LOVE this movie, very suspenseful and definitely a thriller. Explains death penalty to be crude and needing to be thrown out. Ending was an extreme twist that is hard to understand, and has me still wondering!!

I was looking up a old Kevin Spacey movie and the reviews, "The Usual Suspects," because I heard it was really great. Every once in a while, I like to look up older movies that I've seen to see what others thought of them too. I decided to see what old "Life of David Gale" had to share. I was shocked. I felt like this one needed a little bit of defending. After all, when I'm deciding on buying or renting, I check out 1 page of the "most critical" and 1 page of the "most favorable". But most of all, I check out the Tomatometer. If it's 85% or more, I'll likely see it. And I usually agree with the tomatometer all the way. But this one................... I'm a Spacey fan by all stretch. I'm never disappointed in him. This movie, while not practical, is great! I don't know about anybody else, but I watch a movie to go to another world, to see it from a different view in this world I'm in, or maybe just to watch one with no world "in particular" sometimes. I'm from Texas. And it doesn't matter whether I'm for or against the death penalty. I didn't watch this Texas Death Penalty movie because our state is the up-and-running capital of the "express lane" (Ron White) death penalty. I watch movies for the storytelling. With this one, I left the movie with a good story. I wasn't looking to be sold on a belief. And a "real-like" drama takes time to unfold; otherwise, it wouldn't be natural. And I would feel pushed. "David Gale" took Its time................. This is by far one of my favorite movies. I have a long list of good and just okay movies. I have a short list of great and bad movies. This one was on my short list of greats!
