Description

From the creator of Love Actually and Notting Hill comes a trip back to the freewheeling, free-loving ’60s when the very rock music that inspired a generation was censored by the government. When a group of rebellious deejays decides to defy the ban, they take to the seas to broadcast music and mayhem to millions of adoring fans. Featuring a soundtrack that includes The Who, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and many more, it’s a feel-great film based on a true story that critics cheer is "exuberant!" (John Powers, Vogue)

  • Two Different Versions

I originally saw this movie years ago and when I bought it on iTunes I expected it to be just as awesome. I was wrong. It turns out that there are two different versions of this movie. Like a regular version and a directors cut only this time it is a UK version and a global version. The UK version is amazing and has a wonderful story arc. This version is the global version and they cut so many things out. Mostly they cut out scenes with nudity and drinking even though they were happening while the story was continuing.
  • Radio Geeks Gather-Round!

Some notable performances by a decent cast, overall, make this fun to watch, especially if you’re a life-long radio geek like me (been in the biz 30+ years). The plot’s a bit over-the-top - maybe a bit TOO “feel good” - but it tells an intriguing story built on a bit of real British history.
  • A Fantastically Underrated Film

This movie further cements the fact that Richard Curtis is an amazing director/screenwriter. Fantastic music, great characters that you will fall in love with a great tribute to rock and roll and rebellion. This movie is a stunner and the ending brings it all together.

Whether you love rock-n-roll or not...this movie is simply stupid! Don't waste your time. Don't know how it got the high ratings.

This movie is terrible. No story, no jokes, horrible acting. It's obvious that this movie was produced as an avenue to advertise a record company's classic rock catalog.

  • Couldn't sit through the whole movie

Waste of money. It was that bad. Apparently, some folks enjoyed the movie judging from the other reviews. However, the jokes weren't remotely good enough to overcome an extremely sophomoric and banal plot and half baked-characters. My biggest question about the movie is why would Philip Semour Hoffman agree to such a bad script?

I thought the movie was really brilliant. I originally watched it solely because I wanted to see Charlie Rowe (he plays James, the little boy at the beginning), but I kept watching because it was an amazing story. The movie reminds me to never give up on something that I believe in and because of that, I definitely recommend watching this movie. The cast is fabulous too! (:
