Description

Alexis "Lexie" Winston is a young girl who dreams of becoming a champion figure skater. Lexie enters a regional championship and is discovered by an elite coach who sees her potential despite a lack of training and qualifications at an advanced age for figure skaters. Lexie moves from her home in Waverly, Iowa to train at the legendary Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lexie's life is drastically changed; she alienates her high school sweetheart, a handsome young hockey player called Nick and she begins dating an older man. One night, while skating, Lexie tried coming down after trying another triple axle and her skate caught on the metal bar between the tables and ice where she tripped and fell into the tables and chairs and hitting her head on the middle bar of a table. This accident causes her to lose her sight due to a blood clot in her brain. In the midst of feeling sorry for herself, she and Nick rediscover their love for each other. With help from Nick, her father Marcus and original coach Beulah, Lexie begins to realize that she can still fulfill her dreams.

Great re-make! Actually liked Taylor Firth better than Lynn Holly, the rest of the cast were toss ups between the two. The script was modernized but didn't have some of the "feel" of the original. All in all I liked it slightly better. I Tunes! Why can't you buy Britt Nicole's version of "Through The Eyes Of Love"??? I like it much better than Melissa Manchester's.

June 1st 2013 Hey, I've seen bolts the 1970's and 2010 versions of ice castles, each one was sad of the loss of Alexis's sight. I was astonished by her strength and sheer determination when her stir it was low I loved ice castles 20-10 because it was set in our era and seems to be more relate able to kids these days. I also liked the original because it is the movie the other was based off of. All in all, I give it 5 stars!! Great family film.

I have to say that I did like the remake of this movie but I think the original was better. I have read some of the other posts and do have to agree that the acting could have been better, when I first heard they were remaking this movie I was upset, I am an originals girl and don't like my favorite movies to be remade. I complained about the fact that they got a red head to play lexie rather then a blonde, I complained that some of the things from the original where changed in the remake and I complained how the ending was changed when the scene was going back and forth between the rink and pond. And at the time this came out I was made that they made it so Lexi had a thing for her coach rather then a reporter. I do love britt Nicole and I want to be able to find her version of "through the eyes of love". As for some people posting about if this was based off a true story, no it wasn't, and another posted that the original director would have probably done it the same way, or something like that....well the original director IS the one who remade the movie. Over all this remake was only "cute" compared to the original, but I liked it enough. Oh and the editing needed work, this last scene when Lexi is on the ice there are parts where the picture is all blue, like the WHITE ice and her skin, then the next second it's back to normal and looking great.

The movie Ice Castles is a movie about inspiration, hope, having as much things u can fit on your plate and manage, and following your dreams. I loved this movie because I'm a skater too, and usually I have no desire to watch other skaters, except for worlds, the Olympics, and this movie. Remy

I havent seen the original, but I did just watch the remake....and loved it. I loved the romance between Lexie and Nick, and how inspirational it was...that she was blind, got back on the ice,and competed again.was it based on a true story?

I was 8 when this came out. I think i remember being forced to see this movie. As a young man i thought this movie was boring lol. But even then i new this movie had something i just didnt kow what. Until this remake came out i had forgotten i saw the original. I was like what the heck i have seen this before. i investigated and found out why. Rewatched the original and liked it. i liked both versions of the movie. and felt that if this movie had been made at this time that thats is how the director would have done it. it had all the same feelings that made you sad and happy in it. i dont get how some people can say that this was bad because it was a remake. I know some of you might have seen my rants about other remakes here and there. But those changed the movies total feel and changed the main character in some ways and that ruined it. I didnt feel that here. The1978 movie was and is still great but this is also great and i wont forget either one. i would say watch the original first then see this. but like time everything moves on. some people might want a new version of it so they can connect to it better. but i still feel the 1978 version was bettter. Becuase it comes from a time i still remember and can connect with.
