Description

Armed with razor-sharp instincts, a gadget-laden Auston Martin, and a license to kill, James Bond (Timothy Dalton) battles diabolical arms merchants bent on world domination in a weapons conspiracy that may be linked to the Soviet military high command. Initially assigned to help a KGB agent (Jerome Krabbe) defect, Bond must prevent an unknown sniper from killing him before he can escape to the West. The mysterious shooter is the seductive and beautiful Kara Milovy (Maryam d'Abo), who is not at all what she appears to be. Bond foils a plot to trade millions of dollars of diamonds for weapons, ending in a shootout high above the clouds in a plane loaded with opium.

We all love Connery, the Brosnan films are not aging well, and while Craig is surprisingly well suited for the role, as an avid reader and collector of the original books, this movie and actor along with "For Your Eyes Only" are the best of the bunch. Less gadgets, darker, longer storytelling, and even with some of the datedness and silliness of the times of their release, each is a great adaptation of what Fleming intended. Moore was perfect in FYEO and Dalton is here. Funny, smart, cold (the man kills for a living, not simply nailing age-inappropriate women and ordering martinis) Get this - a fantastic Bond film!

An underrated Bond, Timothy Dalton certainly is a breath of fresh air after one too many Roger Moore films. If it weren't for Dalton, Daniel Craig wouldn't be the Bond he is today. This is a Bond with more focus on the mission and has less time for the quips. A great introduction to a great Bond.

I don’t know why some people hate Dalton, he played a different, serious Bond then connery, the action, fun, suspense is all there making it a great bond film

This movie was a huge commercial success after the huge failure of "A View To Kill" (next to "Moonraker" my most hated bond movie) and for bringing back realism and espionage to the franchise and showing James Bond's dark side which I liked very much we wouldn't see another bond like this until Daniel Graig years later. Sadly we won't get to see much of Dalton after just 2 movies and was going to be A premiss where the destruction of a chemical weapons base in Scotland which would have taken him to exotic locales Also I read somewhere that Sam Neil was like neck in neck with Dalton for the role,so it gives you a good "What if?" Scenario to me...totally different movie

FRWL OHMSS Dr. No Goldfinger CR Thunderball GoldenEye YOLT TSWLM LTK FYEO TWINE TND LALD QOS Octopussy Moonraker TNWTGG DAF AVTAK DAD #22 The Living Daylights is a very weak movie. It has a BAD plot! It has horrible bad guys and an awful pace. The highlight is the theme song. A close second is the milkman scene.
