Description

One of the most iconic science fiction movies of all-time, Creature From the Black Lagoon is a groundbreaking classic showcasing Hollywood magic at its best. When scientists exploring the Amazon River stumble upon a "missing link" connecting humans and fish, they plan to capture it for later study. The creature has plans of his own, however, inspired by the lead scientist's (Richard Carlson) beautiful fiancée (Julie Adams). Well-acted and directed, and with Bud Westmore's brilliantly designed monster, Creature From the Black Lagoon remains a masterpiece not only of the genre, but of all time.

Saw thisd movie years ago, and thought it waas oine of the best horror movies of the time. I am a fan of Richard Carlson, and definitly Julie Adams. Seen it again on TCM some months back, and still consider it one of the best Horror movies of the past. Enjoy it so much, am vbuying the DVD so I can look at it and show my kids what great movies were and not the GARBAGE they put out today.
  • A Classic In Every Possible Way!

I first saw this film in the Fall Of 1964 as a nine-year-old. That same year I saw ‘When Worlds Collide’, ‘Jason And The Argonauts’, ‘The Wolfman’, and ‘Dracula’. This film, along with the aforementioned are all classics! The ‘Creature’s’ look, extremely original, and exactly what you’d expect from one of Disney’s stable of artists, even though she wasn’t given any credit for half a century. The ‘Creature’s’ origin story was very original, especially so for 1954, and better than most of the horror- origins put out these days. The ‘Creature’s was the coolest looking ‘Monster’ that Universal had ever put out until then, and even for years-on-to-come! I even bought and built the ‘Creature’ Model that year! Do yourself a favor, and either buy, or rent this film, and mentally put yourself in that world of that mid-twentieth-century-time-period, and let yourself experience one of the greatest monsters ever created and put on the screen. But most of all..... ENJOY!!!

This is one of my favorite movies tied at first with the Universal classic.... "The Invisible Man".
  • ITunes should offer this in 3D

This is one of Universal’s best efforts from that era, but it is supposed to be shown in 3D like when it was first released. For the younger ITunes collectors out there 3D was also big in the fifties! That claw reaching out at the audience was a hoot! Those red blue glasses are easy to get so please offer the superior 3D version. Over time, this has become the Iconic 3D movie and it’s not nearly as much fun without that feature.. 3D please!

Despite the less than great acting and stimulating story, this is my favorite "creature" movie. The Creature steals the show. What I have always found amusing about this movie is the number of times Julie Adams' character has a wardrobe change. For someone roughing it on the Amazon River she looks like she's ready for a day at the country club.
