I was floored by this movie. Not a bad actor in the bunch. The story is incredible.

I just had the opportunity - which consequentially was an honor - to see an Altman film of this surreal magnitude on a big screen here at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater in NYC. It was just astounding - the fluid, wonderfully strange, honest and funny ways that the PINKY MILLIE and WILLIE transformed in the story. Upon thinking of it again, I had to come into iTunes and rent this again. Can't wait.

3 Women is about Pnky Rose (Sissy Spacek) and Millie Lameroux (Shelley Duvall). When Pinky starts working at a rehabilitation center where Millie works, Pinky instantly becomes friends with Millie. Millie also lets Pinky live in her apartment. One night when Millie is mad at Pinky, Pinky falls off a set of stairs and lands in the pool they have at the apartment facing forward. Pinky end up in a coma as a result of her fall, but she eventually got out of it. One day her parents came to see her and they ammediatly got kicked out of the room because she didn't remember them and then had been agitated. Towards the end of the movie, Willie (Janice Rule), the other woman was giving birth. Millie and Pinky went over there to see how she was doing. There wasn't a docter around so Millie had to help her give birth. She then sent Pinky to get a docter. Pinky was paralyzed with fear so she didn't get Millie a docter. When the baby was bor, Millie saw that the baby was dead. Coated in blood, she walked outside to spray herself off with a hose. While out there she saw that Pinky hadn't gone to the hospital to get a docter. So she slapped her. The movie ends with Pinky pretending Millie is her mother and Willie is Millie's mother. This movie was based off a dream that Robert Altman had. These characters are really just different sides of Altman as Sissy Spacek stated during an interview. If you choose to rent it, my personal rating for this movie is 11/10.

Such an interesting hypnotic film. Acting is so good and on pint. Weird and emotional but never boring and suspense abounds. Not to mention absolutely beautiful cinematography. All around amazing.
  • Brilliant, yet obscure Robert Altman film

The strangest, greatest movie that everyone has heard of and no one has seen.
  • Weird but fascinating

This is a really weird movie, but you can't stop watching it. It's a strange character study of three outcasts who end up needing each other. The story was written based on a dream, and there is symbology involving birth and death, with many shots referencing water as a representation of embryonic fluid. It sounds surreal and weird, and it is, but it's a movie you end up liking for some reason. It's worth seeing.

Rich study in weird people- who seem to find them selves in each other. Bizarre. But worth the time.

ALTMANS 3 WOMEN IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, IT'S A DARK SLOW PACED HARD MOVIE TO WATCH.... BUT I FEEL THAT THE MOVIE PLAYS AS A BAD DREAM; A NIGHTMARE IN SOME WAYS.... THE MUSIC IS EERIE AND WORKS WELL WITH THE WALL LIKE ART THAT IS SCATTERED THROUGHOUT. IT'S MANDATORY ALTMAN VIEWING, I ENJOY ALL ACTRESS, SHELLY DUVALL IS TERRIFIC. SISSY SPACEK IS AMAZING.
