Swept from the Sea

I enjoyed the movie but the plot was depressing. I could relate to the obstacles that lay before the main characters, who are different and therefore unaccepted by the narrow minded society they live in. They find consolation in the passion they feel for each other but their love is lived in isolation and they remain on the margins of society. The most interesting character is the doctor whose love for the shipwrecked Yangko, makes him jealous of Amy and blinds him to her qualities. Though a tragic movie, it ends with a note of hope, when the kind-hearted doctor realizes that he has unfairly judged Amy... I would probably not have bought this movie had it been possible to rent it.
