Description

You'll be seeing stars and stripes as the most fascinating leaders in American history come to life in 1776, a musical about the birth of a nation! With the Boston Harbor still stained from over-taxed British tea, a revolution is brewing in the colonies! And now England has thousands of troops headed for America's shores to squelch her subjects' freedom-loving spirit! It's up to John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson to convince a stubborn congress of British colonists to unite as American patriots and turn the inevitable war with England into a Declaration of Independence!

When will iTunes have the diretor's cut? I'm holding out for that! It's one of my favorite movies, but I want the COMPLETE movie.

I saw this movie at the theater and still have the book. So important in today's America where the media, learning institutions and administration shun this important time. It's terrible many of our college graduates think the Civil War was a war we fought with France.......
  • cheesiest movie ever

clearly my comments are in the minority. other reviewers seems to like this film, but I can't understand that. if the director was trying to create an over-acted, cheesy farce, then he succeeded. this film plays out like a poorly produced high-school musical. 1776 is so silly, that in my opinion, it's actually disrespectful to our country's forefathers.

I had to watch this movie for my online humanities class. It's a wonderful tribute to our founding fathers as well as the birth of america. I thought that the singing was above average and that the cinematography was good. However, it was little too long at 165 minutes, some of the scenes where a little too long, the dialogue was a bit nonchalant, and the protrayal of John Adams is a tad melodramatic. Overall, decent film representing 1770's america, though a little bit boring for an historical film.

I love this movie. We watched in HIstory and I fell out of my chair laughing. The actor who plays Ben Franklin is hilariuos. Me and my friend quote scenes from the movie all the time. This movie is awsome
