Movie started out twisted, and proceeded to get more so right to the end. If your up for a major downer, this movie is for you.

At first I didn't think I would be able to see Henry Thomas as anyone but Elliot from E.T., but his performance convinced me that he is capable of playing an "adult role." The character Seth is believable and easy to relate to for pretty much anyone who isn’t a wealthy suburbanite. One of the things that really struck me as interesting (some may say this is a minor point) was how the character of Walter was presented. In most movies, even indies, rednecks are usually portrayed as the static, not so bright bad guys who are bent on some ignorant goal, usually involving racism, sexism, or just plain shooting people or inflicting harm for no apparent reason. While Walter is obviously poor and uneducated and fits the pop-culture definition of "redneck," we are still shown that he is capable of the same kinds of feelings as the story's main protagonists. The death of his wife devastated him, and the ensuing sense of loneliness and despair makes him capable of showing unrequited compassion and empathy toward the young couple he sees mirrored in his past. To me Michael Parks is the unsung hero of this film, but his performance will probably go unnoticed, just like most of the best ones always do…

sad & disturbing turns to dull plot-less upset & a little creepiness... i love indie films, this is not one. good acting, by good actors... does not always leave us with the greatest movie. think twice before buying this one.

No mushy pop songs, No preppy jock type not noticing the smart girl until her make-over, No girl sees guy with another girl misunderstanding, No dude with a lame wanna-be poignant speech in front of his peers at the end of the movie which results in the overdone hollywood kiss scene. Just an unconventional, real, hapless love story between two people who yearn for love even though they may believe they don't deserve it. I hate chick flicks or love story movies but dude this one is deep. No Hillary Duff or Zack Effron disney happy ending in this movie.
  • THANK YOU ITUNES!!!!
