Action/Adventure just like its original! Which is what its Genre should say and year should be 1975, just like its @Copyright.

A sequel unworthy of the original. The two stars are for Gene Hackman's performance which is the only thing that keeps this sinking ship afloat.

I love Frankenheimer's direction and Gene Hackman is always outstanding. The Marsielles location is superb but the story is stupid. How do you follow up the first FC which was based partially on real events, with this preposterous garbage? Why would they get Popeye hooked on smack when they should have just killed him? Take away Marsielles and you are left with a movie that was better suited for ABC or CBS.
  • Not as bad as they say...

In fact, French Connection I and II are / is my favorite Film(s) of the 70's. Gene Hackman did a great job in the Withdrawal scenes and the actor playing the French Chief was great as well. It's true, the story is a lot less than the first French Connection. But the acting is something to celebrate. The two films go well together. I would recommend seeing this if you enjoyed the first, or like films such as 'Taxi Driver', 'The Conversation', 'Midnight Cowboy', etc. I do think it's very odd for itunes to have the second film and not the first.

Why does iTunes constantly put the awful sequels with out putting on the originals on?!

The first French Connection was a classic. It's story, mixed with intense sequences of action and chasing, created a film that can be enjoyed by kids who have never even heard of the 70's. Not so with the French Connection 2. The first FC didn't need a sequel to end the story, but by making one, Frankenheimer butchered the firt film's excellent plot. There is hardly any storyline present in FC 2. Its as if the writers just gave up 30 minutes into the film. If you are going to buy a movie, please, buy the first French Connection and not this horrible excuse for a sequel.
