Description

Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome to Cabaret. The winner of eight Academy Awards, it boasts a score by the legendary songwriting partnership behind another film that would energize the movie musical genre with equal razzle-dazzle 30 years later: Chicago's John Kander and Fred Ebb. Inside the Kit Kat Club of 1931 Berlin, starry-eyed singer Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) and an impish emcee (Joel Grey) sound the clarion call to decadent fun, while outside a certain political party grows into a brutal force. Cabaret caught lightning (and won Oscars) for Minnelli, Grey and director Bob Fosse, who shaped a triumph of style and substance. Come to this Cabaret, old chum. You'll never want to leave.

  • Movie great, Lady Sings the Blues better

Lady Sings the Blues, should have won best actress in my opinion. Diana Ross is Billie Holiday, she played a fantastic part as a singer, and a drug addict, addicted to morphine. If not best actress, it should've won something. Lady Sings the Blues was nominated for 5 Academy awards, and it won nothing. And I know it should be an honor just to be nominated. And for Cabaret it was excellent, Liza Minnelli was great playing Sally Bowles the Cabaret singer and the girl who wants to be a great film star. But I say in my opinion, Lady Sings the Blues was better.

iTunes, when will you ever release the soundtrack to this incredible movie? You carry every stage recording of this show and yet you don't carry the soundtrack?! That's just crazy!

The film is a master piece, the iTunes version horrible
  • This movie is NOT widescreen!

The description of the movie states 'format:widescreen' - but I do not regard stretched 4:3 as widescreen! Where is the 16:9 version? The video encoding is poor - almost as though someone transferred the movie from VHS! This is a real shame as Cabaret is a great movie, let down by a very poor transfer into iTunes.
  • A good film…

… I loved it when I saw it in theatre, as a kid. However, while there are musical numbers in this film, I don't know that I would call this a musical in the same context of what is normally referred to as a musical, i.e.: Westside Story. Someone at Warner Bros. is not doing their job. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just never felt that it was musical.

I've been waiting to see this for a while, expecting it to be just good. When I finally did see it, it SURPASSED my expectations. Liza is amazing as an actress AND singer and Michael York is just so very lovable. I'm in love. In love with the picture, the cast, the set, everything. Also, I have a new infatuation with Michael York:)

I love cabaret, and I was totally disappointed by the fact that the version I downloaded was cast in a totally wrong aspect (too wide) - all faces look so unnatural, I just can't watch it
