I don't understand the great reviews...this is a terrible movie for such great actors. The script was awful, strung out and elementary. Gary Cooper seems bored with his character and/or tipsy. Even Audrey Hepburn seems to struggle with stretching her character to be something. And to top it off; you don't even get the pleasure of sticking with it just to see how it ends. iTunes even ruins that!

Audrey Hepburn plays her usual ingenue beautifully. No complaints there. She is radiant, as usual. But Gary Cooper is horribly miscast--old, dissolute, and worst of all totally uninteresting. He makes whole experience pretty painful to watch. Since iTunes has already done the Spoiler for us, one can just say that when Cooper grabs her and lifts her into the train in the final sequence, one just wants to cry Nooooooooo! The movie is so wrong on so many levels, and a bit boring.

Oh, I just fell in love with this movie!!!!!! True, it's not exactly the kind of role we are use to seeing Gary play, but being the great actor he is, he pulled it of stupendously!!! Audrey does a great job as well!!! She captured my heart, and I really wasn't one of her biggest fans, but I am now!!!! If you like- love, Gary, Audrey, laughter, a little suspense, and lots of happiness, with a few tears, you are in for the biggest treat ever!!!!!!!
  • Spoiled plot or not, it's worth it

I can't believe. iTunes, that there are so many possible classic film lovers passing up this film because y'all spoiled the ending. Not too smart on your part. For any potential viewers, knowing the end will hurt only a bit. It's better than can be imagined (or spoiled!) and shows Audrey's range as a gripping and dramatic actress. It's one of my favorites of all time and a must-see for Audrey fans.

This is one of my all time favorite movies!!! They dont make movies like this anymore! Im only 17 and I think this is better than all the movies in the past decade. I love Audrey Hepburn and this movie and Roman Holiday are may favorite.
  • For the love of Audrey Hepburn, no spoilers please!

They don't make movies like these anymore. Hepburn was luminous and Cooper was charming in this endearing little known Hepburn classic. Itunes GOT TO EDIT the movie synopsis, the last scene was crucial and the plot summary will ABSOLUTELY ruin it! I'm lucky to have skipped reading the synopsis and really enjoyed the movie!

I agree! I was ready to buy this one, until I read the ending. Why bother now. Thanks for ruining it for all of us!
