  • A Great Film with Humor and Heartbreak

The performances are incredible and the story has such an uplifting and comical outlook on actual life in the South. Amy Adams is pure perfection and handles the role as the pregnant, ditsy, and outgoing sister-in-law with grace and charisma completely enveloping the spotlight. You can't help but giggle at everything she says and lie in wait for her next scene. The other characters are typical white trash folks that mold the story with their extremely different personalities and quippy dialogue. It's pace is a gradual walk in the park with plenty of memorable spectacles along the way. Top notch film!

Don't waste your money. I did, and I regret it.

what can i say..........the story is good! It is a story that can easily belong to any one of us! And probably does. I loved the cast. However Embeth and Alessendro play brother and sister in one of my other favorite movies (Mansfield Park-Jane Austen). It was a bit odd at first seeing them as husband and wife. But i quickly got over it.
  • Truly Moving

Although it seems to be somewhat anticlimactic during the beginning, this movie exemplifies true values such as family, respect and love; and how sometimes we lose sight of what is truly important. It shows a pendulum shift within the "value" of the protagonists, and the characters end up really having to examine themselves. Not only was it moving, but it was uncannily realistic.
  • not terrible but doesn't make it pass the finish line

i like character studies but a better critic could explain why this one, despite some interesting moments, didn't flesh out. and why the hell was ben mckenzie so damn mad? i was waiting to find something out and never did.
  • Misleading Plot Summary

Beware! Contrary to the 'plot summary', this film is NOT a comedy, nor a 'funny hit,' but rather a philosophical study of personality traits being discovered as you go. It is not a funny movie, but a sensible and intelligent play with light and shadows.
  • Not worth it

This movie felt longer than real life.
