Description

From the director of FOXCATCHER, MONEYBALL, and CAPOTE comes this wildly entertaining portrait of Timothy “Speed” Levitch, an eccentric New York City tour bus guide. THE CRUISE follows the funny, fast-talking Levitch as he cruises the Big Apple in a double decker bus, sharing a treasure trove of beautifully distorted information about the city, along with fascinating stories of famous denizens—from Henry James to George Gershwin to Edgar Allen Poe.

You will love this documentary/educational movie if you are a person with an open mind, and someone who thinks deeper than just a two-dimensional human Standard entity. I can only hope to have such half the vocabulary as his with the knowledge and understanding. This documentary is well worth the price of the rental.

I loved it! He is extremely entertaining and it really makes you think. Beautiful mind for sure. However, I can see some people not getting it, he is out there.

Loved this documentatry. Having lived in NYC for 6 years, I totally connect with the crazy Big Apple vibe where the ordinary and expected is soul-numbing, individuality and creativity reigns, and insanity and genius often share the same bed. Fascinating!

This movie is supposed to be a portrait of a cool new yorker. Unfortunately the guy is just boring and cringeworthy.

...if you can call it a documentary. It, like the ferociously delicious movie "Swimming to Cambodia" is really a performance piece, a poem, a beatific, tragi-comic, symphonic train wreck of a movie. I almost bought it for $68 when it went out of circulation, so I'll be notifying the fans of its resurrection!

This film has a wonderful idea, a great subject (NYC), and a good platform. But it would be a 5-star film if 30 minutes of David Speed's ramblings and self-conscious "poetic" philosophizings were edited out. His scenes on the tour bus are wonderful. His scenes standing or walking through the city often border on unwatchable. The trailer is misleading, and I wish I never bought this film. Rent it first people.
