  • An underrated fantastic classic film

It has been a favorite of mine since I was in middle school. Everything from the storyline, visual, casting, fashion, and music 🎶 was a perfect fit, in my opinion. I saw an article online, and it stated that it wasn't as well-received as purple rain was by some moviegoers. But as the old saying goes, ”Different strokes/interests for different folks.” and that's okay! The most important thing is the film is another example of how artistic and talented Prince was in more ways than one, and I love it.
  • They lopped off the beginning...

Still a cool movie, but some ding dong decided 2 lop off the opening portion! It showed the “WB” normal, as usual, only 2 have it sloooowly fade from full colour 2 B&W, thus representing the mood setting. Call me purist, but I don’t dig my Prince tampered with. 1 star docked 4 that!

I think it's going to take his death to make folks realize the joys of this flawed but still exceedingly entertaining film. Through the lens of several decades, it seems odd that people took this so seriously at the time. It's clearly meant to be a light and fun film, although there are dark and tense undercurrents as well. 100-percent worth it for the "Girls and Boys" sequence alone.

I really wasnt expecting much after Grafitti Bridge. Hard to top Purple Rain, simply one of the best movies musical/concert of its time. In my opinion. Taht said, I was pleasantly suprised to see this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Love Story filmed in Black and White. Prince was a talented man and will be missed. Still can believe he is gone. I love you Prince. May you have an equilly successful and rewarding life in the afterworld. R.I.P. Must see movie for any Prince Fan.

I admit that I purchased this after our loss of Prince. I've always been an admirer, and an honest one. I didn't buy his rap/r&b music and I never bothered to watch this film for some reason...not being an over eager fan. But I was pleasantly surprised. In all honestly I think my rating is effected by the sadness but I feel it's warranted & fair. I enjoyed seeing his face and acting flare. For all those complaining about it being B&W, this was genius on his part as it made the film more timeless. If all those eccentric 80's clothes were in color, this film would not survive the test of time...also, the point was to have a vintage old Hollywood feel, thus the reason for the acting style. I found myself giggling at parts, especially Prince's overly steamy facial expressions which were intended to be comical. Then I felt sad at the reality the he's gone. Prince didn't like the term "fan" (fanatic) so I'll just say, an admirer needs to see his acting, producing, song writing on this film. You also learn new things, like, his father co-wrote two songs and personal messages Prince puts in the ending credits. I'll never forget "wrecka stow". My favorite line from this film. He was an original. One of a kind. RIP Prince

This movie is just straight up fun. Prince is hilarious and his facial expressions are just wonderful. He says so much with those eyes! Jerome was great too. This movie, to me, was a real glimpse into how Prince was. His humor, his seduction, his musical genius. The critics hated it and people disregarded it, but really it's a joy ride. I only wish there was a color version of this because I've seen stills from this film in color and while I love the film noir style, the colors are amazing. The costumes ... Ugh I want a color version!!
