Description

“Why don’t they stop me?” Erica Bain wonders. Bain, a popular radio host, watched her fiancé die and nearly lost her own life in a vicious, random attack. Now she is a stranger to herself, an armed wanderer in the urban night, ridding New York of the thugs she sees at every turn. And no one, it seems, can stop her. Two-time Academy Award® winner Jodie Foster as Erica and Academy Award® nominee Terrence Howard as a dogged cop with his own psychic wounds to heal join director Neil Jordan (The Crying Game) and producers Joel Silver (The Matrix trilogy) for this jolting, high-tension thriller that has a lot on its mind. And a gun in its hand.

One of my favorite movies and Jodie’s finest performance. Also, strangely, a love letter to a bygone New York City.

Jodie Foster gives a powerful performance in this film. I have read reviews saying this film is like Deathwish. It is not, seeing as how they did not make 3 & have in this case a better actress. Not a B grade actor. The movie has a sad story but ends well. You reap what you sow.
  • Little more than Jodie Foster’s personal anti-gun rant

One more way in which Hollywood and the liberal left want women (and all people) to believe and trust that police officers are here to protect us, rather rely on ourselves for our self-protection by portraying gun owners as illegally possessing weapons with which we act as self-styled vigilantes in defense of our lives. as a victim of violent crime, the movie,Jodie Foster, and the writers are an insult to my intelligence. Shame on you, cowards. The movie does accurately portray two things, though: (1) how violent the gang-controlled portions of our cities and society have become, though the violence is predominantly racially-motivated specifically against whites; and (2) the indifference of an over-worked, overwhelmed, and under-budgeted police force to the violence which those people who are “above” the law force upon the rest of society. A movie with no real redeeming value.

I watch this movie all the time. In alot of ways is a modern update of a female version of "Death Wish". And the music in this film really suits the tone of the story.

I don't know why it took me so long to finally watch "The Brave One", but I'm glad I eventually did. I'm ashamed I ever felt like having to be a "Brave One" to watch it. I wanted to see it when it first came out, but then I didn't. Then I've come across it a few times but still didn't watch it, and after finally watching it, I'm wondering why I hesitated to watch it at all. Jodie was believable. Her character was awesome, and she played the part flawlessly. The other actors in the film pulled off their roles excellently as well. The story is dramatic and simply wonderful. The vigilante style of this movie actually makes me think of the indie film "Boy Wonder", which is also a very good movie. But, their stories aren't exactly the same… just similar vigilante elements. Sure, its a revenge thriller. But in fact its way more than that. There is suspense, but honestly not a lot… and its not constant throughout the movie. Sure, it ain't action packed… in fact its more realistic that making it out to be action packed would just ruin the story. The script was well written. The vigilante killings were well done. Overall, this movie is by far not a terrible movie and at least enjoyable to sit down and watch. But that's not the extent of my opinion. In the eyes of this beholder this movie is golden.

Movie was too cliched and rushed at times, with rampant predictability and random amateurish violence steadily chipping away at my viewing interest (aka boredom lol). It did occasionally have flashes of the emotionally-raw thriller that it could have been. Acting was good in general but not really convinced of Jodies overall performance. Terrence Howard however was superb! He added that much needed element of tension and mystery in this otherwise confused thriller wannabe. If you do decide to watch this movie, then I highly recommended this viewing tip- use the fast forward button frequently and enjoy! lol ;)
