This is indeed a sad movie that made me cry over and over. But the reason I cried is because this movie is a mirror. A mirror on the reality of life at times and some pretty big ultimate realities. It was worth the trip with an Everyman who navigated into the unknown with us tagging along. This film will be a part of me for a long time.

Gritty, unresolved issues which cloud this marriage but don't derail it made this worth seeing; however, I needed breaks during this movie...depressing. As well, many hinted at but never told marital issues are frustrating for the viewer. The male lead also never moves his face at all during the movie.
  • Definitely worth watching!

A sobering look at alzheimers disease and its affect on the partners involved with this terrible disease. While a fault driven husband (Gordon Pinsent) is losing his wife's (Julie Christie) affections to another man with alzheimers, he succumbs to the will of his former self by having a trist with the man's wife played expertly by Olympia Dukakis. This heart-wrenching story brings to life the sadness and helplessness caused by alzheimers disease. The actors are well-cast in the simple, yet beautiful, Canadian winter settings. This is one of the best movies of 2007. Bring your tissues while saluting Sarah Polley for her excellent screen writing and directing of this sad love story.
