This movie was very much like the life i had lived. This being based off of a real hero,in my opinion, made it all the better.Denzel strikes again in this epic trudge of life one must walk to see results. This hero walked with purpose, and in all the tears he shed, he showed an amazing soul with a beautiful rainbow.I hope to see more movies where people can overcome their past and put it to use. Many people would have lied down in the bottel, drugs, ect.and have an excuse to stay mad at the world. This movie gives hope, not that it's easy, but that you can put your past to rest and use the tools given to you to create a future.Your a hero if you can do that in my opnion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Antwone Fisher was a great story and Denzel has done an excellent job in his directorial debut to turn the true story into a great movie. The acting is superb! My wife and I loved watching it! I ended up researching the real story behind the movie afterwards. It reminds us that we must be careful not to judge so quickly because those that appear most violent and angry are sometimes the most broken and abandoned inside.
  • I feel sorry for the real Antwone "Fish"

This movie does not tell the Real Antwone Fisher story set in the 60's and 70's- which would have made a better movie. You can see the writers and directors hand in making up stuff to show you that this is set in the 90's and 00's. That said- nothing has changed for foster kids today- which makes this film relevant and important for everyone to see. About 1 million children pass through foster care in America every year. Many of them end up feeling neglected and some are abused by those that signed up and got trained to protect and nurture them. If you can, read the book- Finding Fish- excellent book. Another great one on the subject that is really set in the 90's is Scars That Can Heal.

Brilliant direction by Denzel Washington highlights a piece full of tremendous performances, poignant acting, and an extremely sharp script. The journey of Antwone is both believable and deep. Washington's final appearance in the film feels slightly forced, but only in comparison to the heart-wrenching finale. A tremendous film, all around.

The story is so heart warming and though very serious throughout it leaves you feeling so pleased. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it whole-heartedly.
