Description

“The Little Mermaid” is visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of Disney’s beloved animated musical classic, the story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. “The Little Mermaid” is directed by Rob Marshall with a screenplay by David Magee, and is produced by Marc Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, John DeLuca and Rob Marshall. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.

I have not been a fan of the Disney remakes (with the exception of Aladdin) but this one surprised me. It does not surpass the beloved original, but it’s a good remake, I’ll give you that. The CGI is really incredible. The underwater scenes are stunning. (Most of) the cast and characters were great! Besides the song the Eric sings and the one Ariel sings in the bathtub, the rest of the songs were poorly done. Ariel couldn’t sing. That disappointed me. And the part where Ariel kills Ursula. Those are my biggest cons. I did like how the characters weren’t quoting the original movie word for word (like the lion king!!). Sebastian and Ursula were the best actors. Flounder was good but he could not sing!!!! I didn’t get why they made scuttle a girl (or why she flew down underwater...) but it’s akwafina so that makes up for it :) also the Jodi benson cameo was sweet 💙 This was a good remake for once In probably going to watch it again. I recommend it I was not disappointed. For once. Please make more good movies again Disney this has been the best movie you’ve made since Encanto.Maybe not a remake next time. Something new.

Please please don’t listen to the bad reviews. This movie is so good, original, and does stick to the original story. Even though people say the stupidest things about it PLEASE don’t listen. The cast is great, the animation is decent and the music is spot on! This is a safe wonderful family movie so definitely watch. Yeah it’s not my favorite Disney remake but still great. Good movie, not the best message. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! Really good

I don’t have a problem with Halle Bailey. She IS a very talented woman… but she’s not Ariel. I love the original Disney movies, but this remake didn’t stay true to the original film at all. Is there any good reason they couldn’t cast someone who LOOKED like Ariel as -you know- Ariel? It’s not just that either; the way the movie was shot, written, and performed was highly disappointing. Can’t recommend.

Was not sure what to expect, but this movie really delivered. Halle has such a beautiful voice and they did a great job of bringing a classic to life. Definitely a must see.
  • Everything is a remake these days

I swear that there are no new ideas for anything that goes ten-fold for movies. They remade lion king 10 times now. So Disney moved to the little mermaid. And it came as shock to no one that they destroyed a classic. If you want to make everything about race then this is your movie. If you’re black you’ll love it, and if you’re racist you’re gonna absolutely love it.

It was really good but when I watched in the movie theater I fell asleep which was really weird because I barely ever go to bed and because I love the little mermaid so it was really long and it was good but it was way too long
  • Not bad

Not good either. Really the cgi was the biggest problem for me and the musical changes. I can’t get jiggly with it. Even one note difference is noticeable, and they changed many.
