Description

After five years in prison, guards lead Nolan to his freedom. But Nolan’s ticket out came courtesy of ratting on his former boss. A death sentence for any man. His goal: find Lena and Amy—his ex and their five-year-old daughter he’s never met—and get them out of the city, to a new life together, before the ghosts of his past can track him down and kill him. "The Ghost Who Walks" is a breathlessly paced, cinematic ride through the hidden underbelly of the city. Nolan’s quest is simple: Put his family back together and escape. But to survive the night and reach the other side, Nolan is going to have to face his past in more ways than one. Can Nolan find Lena and Amy before Donnie finds him? Can Nolan survive the night? Or is he already a ghost, doomed from the moment the prison doors opened?

You come away from Cody Stokes' "The Ghost Who Walks" with the same feeling you got from first seeing "Mean Streets" — realizing you are seeing a young voice at the beginning of what could be a long and storied career. The images are realistic enough to make you flinch, but unexpected in their composition and beauty. There's an urgency in the filmmaking to match the storytelling, with tough soured characters who teeter between violence and redemption. I can't wait to see what Stokes does next.

Haunting holiday tale about a redemption, outrunning the past and a fathers love for his daughter. Filmed in the St. Louis MO this film showcases the architecture of the city like a character. Wonderfully acted by Garland Scott who is going to be a star. Excellent direction and sound design. Get the Ghost!
