Description

"Perfect Bid: The Contestant Who Knew Too Much" is an award winning documentary film from CJ Wallis about a math genius from Texas named Ted Slauson and his life of memorizing and documenting the prize amounts on "The Price Is Right. " Keeping track of items and their prices began as a hobby for Slauson, until age 18 when he became eligible to be selected as a contestant on the show. The film explores Slauson's experience as a 37-time audience member, that results and exposes Ted’s role in a 2008 perfect bid showcase scandal that rattled news outlets like Esquire, Time Magazine, and TMZ and ended in Slauson being banned from the show. CJ Wallis and Mallory Kennedy produced the film which features “The Price Is Right”s 5 time Emmy award winning producer Roger Dobkowitz and television icon Bob Barker who provide the film with rare, never-before-seen content and perspective from their 35 years on the show.

This is a really great story, I remember watching the episode when it aired before I was a huge fan of The Price is Right. I didn't know what really happened in The Bob Barker Studio that day until after watching this movie. The editing was brilliant, and don't even get me started on that opening sequence. I probably watched that 4 or 5 times before watching the rest of the movie! I wish there were more clips of the show, but alas Fremantle would let it happen. One thing that caught me off guard was when it switched to Drew's interview. Really shows the difference between the current staff and the 'classic' staff. It's hard to believe that this was already ten years ago. This is definitely worth buying if you're a huge Price is Right fan!

Trailer makes it seem like the movie is all about how this guy memorized prices and beat the system, barely even touches on any of that. All it does is give a play by play on several times the guy was on the show. Frusterating because you know a great underlying story is there, but the director chose to focus on boring things instead of it.

As a former contestant on The Price is Right, I absolutely loved this documentary. Such a facenating story about the never-seen side of The Price is Right. Great interviews with the producer, Bob Barker, Drew Carey, and others. If you like game shows, this movie is a no-brainer...

Not much of a climax. The idea is fine and edited nicely. Overall, it was just plain boring.
