Errol Flynn stars as a swashbuckling Scotsman, The Master of Ballantrae. After the Scottish rebellion against the English is crushed, Jamie Durie (Flynn--The Adventures of Robin Hood) must leave Scotland, his fortune and the woman he loves behind to escape capture by the conquering forces. Sailing to the West Indies, he battles pirates and makes his fortune anew. But returning to Scotland, he finds the woman he loves engaged to his brother, who had betrayed him to the English.
