  • What would you do?

I really enjoyed the idea of what would I do in this situation? How would I react? If an entity attack my city. Give it some thought. Good situational story … without the movies reasoning of the attack. So the acting was about as good as I expected, after watching trailer. . . Spoiler . . Now for the bad, I think this is what a liberal envisions doing given the opportunity to attack (communist take over, because what else would it be, we already have a more conservative free country with law and order … if it is followed) and kill anyone who doesn’t agree or comply. Not .. conservatives .. as they make it out to be.

The good: the sweeping tracking shots and taut atmosphere. Aesop Rock’s moody and angular soundtrack. The bad: literally everything else. The whole movie reads like an ode to Brooklyn written by someone doing their best to pretend like they aren’t on the cutting edge of gentrifying Brooklyn. The whole idea of the south invading Bushwick because of “ethnic diversity” is so cartoonishly idiotic the whole movie would have played better as a spoof of Red Dawn. And while I don’t think it is “liberal propaganda” like others have said, it is certainly informed by the hysterical ivory tower regionalism that makes us Southerners, both progressive and conservative, roll our eyes and say, “Bless your little heart.”

Not a bad movie up until the abrupt ending
  • Utterly Pointless

The movie starts out with some promise, develops the characters well, and gives us some good back story. But, somewhere in the middle, the movie loses its way. And in the end, becomes utterly pointless. If you have seen Alien 3, you will have an idea of the course of this movie as well. The concept of who is doing the insurrection, the why, and the how (curiously absent), leaves a gaping hole in the plot. We find out some of the particulars of this insurrection in a curious way in the second half of the film. But, this too is left undeveloped. Rent this movie for 99 cents, or leave it alone. And by all means, don't buy it. You will have wasted your money.

The only positive is that was shot in NCY which is always cool to see. If you are going to watching this movie, which I do not recomend as it is not good, you will hopefully find the ending rewarding. I did.

Love both principal actors, but what a mess of a movie. I was hoping it would get better, but plot confusion in the beginning along with poor dialogue continued to reverberate throughout this entire film. The trailer portrayed an entirely better movie and for what I paid I expected more for $6.99. Had I seen this in the theatre I would have walked out and demanded a refund.

It seemed like it would be interesting but turned out to be awful waste of 6.99
