To anyone who may find this on Netflix please don’t watch it is a pure waste of time the only thing this movie try’s to do is setup a franchise that probably never happen. The best way I can describe this movie is insidious alien edition The ending was just a way to set up a sequel in feels like this movie was meant to be longer but the creators said no let’s just put the first part of the story and then end on a potential sequel probably called dark skies chapter 2 I really can not describe more how much a awful movie this was. I was kind of liking the ending because it was getting dark but then no just terrible.

I live in a big house and decided to watch it at 1am. I had to turn it off and watch the rest of it during the day time.

When I see the word "supernatural" I tend to think of ghosts...but there's not a ghoul in sight in this flick, which is far more "Signs" than it is "The Conjuring". Bland characters and a parade of cliche's done better elsewhere makes it hard to care about anything that happens to the family in this film. Keri Russell and J.K. Simmons were the only performances worth watching, and even then they were somewhat tepid. I wish I could muster enough umph to say more, but it was just so dull and mediocre I can't really be bothered to hate it. It's a whole lot of "meh" and definitely not worth even a rental.

Just watch a horror movie that doesn’t take every cliche in the book.

I have always been fascinated with books on alien abductions, including films and documentaries that deal with the subject. So I bring a lot to the plate when I watch this film. It's expertly directed, filmed, written, scored and edited to help build the suspense and paranoia that the family is experiencing. The two leads that play the parents bring an incredible amount of emotion and believability to their roles. Their stress, their frustrations, their fear becomes a visceral experience for the viewer. The helplessness they feel is heartbreaking and my nerves were challenged with each nightly visitation by the aliens. I found the whole film to be frightening and chill-inducing. The ending especially was not expected. My jaw dropped and my mind knew that I would be watching the skies as I locked up all the windows and doors to my house tonight!
