Description

Let Me In is a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by Matt Reeves (CLOVERFIELD), based on the best-selling Swedish novel "Let The Right One In" and highly acclaimed film of the same name. Chloë Grace Moretz (KICK-ASS) stars as Abby, a mysterious 12-year-old who moves in with a man who appears to be her father (Oscar®-nominee Richard Jenkins of THE VISITOR), next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee of THE ROAD), a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school. In his loneliness, Owen forms a profound bond with his new neighbor Abby, but can’t help noticing that she is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders grips his wintry New Mexico town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl may not be what she seems.

I’m not really a horror film person, but this film captured my attention. The acting and script was excellent. I was entranced how the vampire lured her young beau into being her willing slave to replace the man that had served her for decades.

This was an incredible story and movie. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t compare it to Twilight, not the same. One of the better horror films I’ve seen in a long time. Ending is great. As a side note..... as I am writing this review, someone just tapped on my bedroom window, creepy, once you see this movie , you’ll understand why.
  • A remake as scary as the original

This is a very non-traditional horror film that worms its way into you. While it does not have the violence of Fatal Attraction and there is nothing in common between the stories, it gets way deep down inside you and lingers there for long afterwards. I can't think of any other horror film that makes the audience feel so present and so violated. It is slow and subtle, but it does a great job.

You spend time reading reviews and watching trailers, wanting to find the good horror films that get tangled in the garbage slasher pile.. This is a good one! I have added it to my list of outstanding horror films.

I can’t think of anything bad to say about this film, except it left me wanting to know and see more more....and it’s really dark in terms of morality; I felt like I was complicit in villainy for this one. Let Me In is Truly creepy and unsettling, probably the best “vampire movie” I’ve seen. At its core it hits upon the deep vulnerability and dark, primal conflicts of adolescence. The movie’s also a good, excellent, example of Ernest Hemingway’s principle in writing, that you write the tip of an iceberg. Not much if anything is explained, in terms of lore and backstory. Watch it, you won’t be disappointed unless you wanted an action-fantasy-horror. This one is dread and horror in the truest sense.

Okay, this movie was not good. First of all, this movie gives Twilight 1 and 2 a BAD reputation. Twilight didn’t have as much violence as this one did. It didn’t have any gore. I didn’t know who the antagonist was. Second, I hate it as much as I hated the Carrie remake because the villains of the movie (Abby the Vampire and Carrie) were equally insane.

I remember watching this movie when the Twilight Saga was still in full swing. I wanted to seem "hardcore" for watching an intense, Rated R, vampire movie. I had my doubts about this because I learned that it was a vampire love story. So I went into this with the wrong mindset, so I honestly should have hated it...but I didn't, and I don't. Let Me In is slow paced, amazingly directed, well shot, well acted, and haunting movie that I wish more people saw. Yes, yes, I'll admit that this movie is clearly not for everyone, not in the slightest, but if you want a good story that's mature and heartfelt, this movie is for you. Matt Reeves shows us why he's a fantastic director, choosing to tell character strories over over-the-top gore sequences (which there are a few and they're brutal). I recommend you watch it, then watch it again, because it deserves your time.
