Description

When Chris (Daniel Kaluuya), a young African-American man, visits his white girlfriend's (Allison Williams) family estate, he becomes ensnared in the more sinister, real reason for the invitation. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined. This speculative thriller from Blumhouse (producers of The Visit, Insidious series and The Gift) and the mind of Jordan Peele (Key & Peele) is equal parts gripping thriller and provocative commentary.

Slow, boring and not scary. Predictable and not much of a horror film. I would consider this a psychological thriller. Not my cup of tea

The movie had potential at first but slowly became more and more unrealistic. Seemed a little over the top and in some ways poorly written. Did not hold my interest. I’m a fan of Jordan Peele but this movie’s only purpose seemed to be liberals forcing an extreme racism ideology down the audience’s throat and making every white person look like the devil. I just wanted a good thriller so I was a little disappointed.

I found this to be a really interesting movie due to the plot twist. It’s just crazy how some white viewers are unpleased with Peel’s movies cause he puts a spin on traditional racism. Blacks didn’t complain about “Django” or “The hateful 8” we set back and enjoyed the craft. We understood the stereotype and accepted the movie for its intended purpose. Ole well I guess a movie projecting racism is only good if the idea of racism stays traditional. SMH

This movie was extremely well made, and the complex themes and characters make me want to rewatch it. Fantastic writing.

I saw this movie because a friend kept telling me how good it was. I finally watched and just asked myself why I sat through the whole thing. Very boring story, not scary, just trying build more on our society division.

I hate this type of movie and this movie in particular, “Get Out”. I will explain, of course. This is the worst type/genre of movies – if promises something that never delivers, but what it does deliver is gruesome murder ad nauseum. The script has so many tone-deaf dialogues and actions that the story falls apart again and again after almost every scene. It bludgeons us with racism and stale history lessons of Uncle Tom mentality in contemporary life. It perpetuaes the ridiculous undercurrent of “systemic racism” that is a punch line nowadays. In fact, what a good way to describe “Get Out” in one word: joke. It makes us, the viewer, the butt of the joke. Halfway through, you scream at us, “Ha ha ha! Gotcha! Get Out-a here!” In one moment, one second, with the losing of the car keys, it’s like you rip off a band-aid and realize your wound is gangrenous, and you need to “Get Out” to a hospital, stat. Everything turns evil; catatonic; miserable; torturous; insane; and inane.
