@iTunes, please add "Orchestra Wives", the arguably even better movie with the Glenn Miller Band.

An efficient, societal and celluloid simulacrum!

I'm so happy this great film is available in digital to replace my treasured VHS copy! This is one of two films (the other being Orchestra Wives) made prior to the beginning of WWII staring Glenn Miller and his orchestra, which were made as vehicles to capitalize on the popularity of the group. Sun Valley Serenade is the better of the two and feature magical performances of many of Miller's biggest hits, performed in a causal and relaxed way to loosely tie into the situations presented in the storyline. These songs are timeless gems and are worth the price of admission alone. The conceit of the film is somewhat thin and the situations obvious ploy to feature Miller's songs, the film is light hearted and fun regardless and stands up to multiple watching some. With the winter time theme, it has become a holiday tradition in our family. Don't miss this rarely seen classic!
