Description

Part confessional and part performance, this haunting psychological thriller is a stylistically daring experiment in storytelling. Nick, a death row inmate, petitions the court to be executed. As he goes on to tell his story, it gradually becomes clear that nothing is quite what it seems. Nick spins his tale with all the twists and turns of classic crime drama, with a final shocking twist that casts everything in a new light.

  • Huge let down.

I've never watched a movie with such competely "misguided" reviews. This isn't what I was expecting AT ALL, and that's not meant to sound like a good thing. Guy goes to prison; guy discusses his life story. There are NO twists or turns; no shocking revelations; no thrilling moment of suspense. Literally, just a dude in a chair discussing what it was like for him in jail. 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is rather puzzling. The whole time I waited for "the other shoe to drop" and it simply just ends without anything strange about it at all. In short, this was a bust.

His story is truly incredible and it's hard to think this can happen to people (without giving away spoilers). I really enjoyed this and was surprised how good his story telling was. I am envious of how he was able to read so many books in his solitude. I know 99% of what he went through was terrible and he while I don't want to put words in his mouth he would probably give anything to get all of that time back. But while it is no comparison, I sometimes wish I could be left alone with no responsibility and could spend all of my time reading, reading anything and everything I wanted to read. He has accomplished a lot and in fact more than some people. In the end, the justice system needs an overhaul.
