Description

While most fathers spend their days at work, Cam (Mark Ruffalo) is more likely to be found working on one of his many half-completed projects. As he recovers from a manic breakdown, his wife Maggie (Zoe Saldana) enters an out-of-state graduate school program in the hopes of building a better life for her family. Cam agrees to become the primary caregiver for his spirited young daughters and quickly finds himself in over his head. Based on a true story, Infinitely Polar Bear is a touching and entertaining portrait of the many unexpected ways in which parents and children save each other.

These movie was beautiful, real and touching. I like that its not your classic happy ending movie and everything its fine at the end… it has a real ending (not a bad one either). I rented but now I’m gonna buy it! Beautiful movie!!

Great story of finding the beauty in the chaos of life. The broken becomes beautiful. The simple but profound lesson set before the viewer is heartwarming. Mark Ruffalo is at his best. The light that is shone on mental illness and the beauty that can exist within what the world sees as chaos and brokenness is truly beautiful. This movie will break your heart and then fill it up with hope.

Wow, I saw the mixed reviews.... Ended up waiting $1 and 2 hours. Only reason I finish watching I was on a plane and hoped it would get better. It did not!

I am not familiar with Mark Ruffalo but after seeing this very fine film I will never miss anything of his again. His performance in this movie was superb and he had me laughing hysterically at times, on the verge of tears at others. Bi-Polar disorder was dealt with gently but effectively to let us know that we need to help those so affected. I highly recommend this film. As Movie of the Week it was 99 cents well spent but worth much, much more.

I am such a fan of Mark Ruffalo which is initially what prompted me to watch this movie. However, I was quickly drawn in and impressed by how well such a daunting, sad disease was portrayed. Ruffalo's performance was never maudlin, yet he gave glimpses of the achingly deep despair suffered as a result of this sickness. Zoe Zaldane did an amazing job as the beset wife who was struggling to take on the necessary role of breadwinner of the family, thus ceding her place as the parent who was always there. Both daughters were unique in the way they presented themselves in a quirky mixture of vulnerability and strength. Having said all this, my best indicator of how well I liked the movie is this-----I would sit down right now and watch it again..

I think the reason this film failed to capture my heart was because we never really get to know these characters on an individual basis. To make Ruffalo’s character more heartfelt, we needed to see him struggle more to attain his stability and nurture his children. Instead, he does a Robin Williams manic act all the way through the film until the last 15 minutes when he realizes what he is losing. Zoe Saldana gives a brave effort, but she leaves the family for school, returning on the weekends to find herself distressed at her husband’s frenetic behavior over and over. Perhaps the problem in filming a person’s life story and feeling like you can’t tamper with the storyline for fear of lying about one’s parents and situations. Still, it’s worth watching. The oldest daughter is a real talent.

The only thing I found interesting was the citroen and it was killed off early in the film. The film was a "road to nowhere" and they did not need the car anyway.
